Already mentioned in the other thread

If I had to guess Nintendo probably owns the specific remixes for the GB and NES versions of Tetris like how lot of 3rd party remixes in Smash say “Arrangement Copyright Nintendo”.

Final Fantasy is the only series in Smash with more then one remixed tracks where the IP holder (Square) owns all of the remixes rather then Nintendo. Street Fighter and Metal Gear only have two and one remixes owned by the original IP holder respectively.
There's also the factor the songs the Tetris themes are based on are public domain

This week, we got Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Edit: This isn't actually the entire soundtrack. Only 23 songs were added today. The rest will come later this year.

Actually a little ticked off that they're blatantly adding incomplete soundtracks like this.

At least this gives precedent to them adding missing tracks in other soundtracks.

I'd like to point out that Sword of the Surviving Guardian is not considered a top track of Forgotten Land despite being an S++ track (and probably my most wanted song for the next Smash)

Dawg they're drip-feeding us soundtracks now

Incidentally, today I learned that the entirety of Planet Robobot's soundtrack is on Spotify

To quote myself from yesterday, with this kind of stuff it should be expected that Nintendo will wait at least a couple of months to try to maximize potential sales of the OST. Kirby and the Forgotten Land's OST released just under 6 months ago, which to me was the bare minimum but still not very likely.

I think this is largely a good compromise to get tracks from games that would take much longer otherwise.

Honest question. How many tracks are missing anyways?

OST release has 115 tracks, and from a quick glance I think all of them will probably be added, so up to 92 tracks.

Edit: On a completely unrelated note, I've noticed a new support article that states that a planned update for October 2025 will introduce the ability to edit, delete and share playlists even while not subscribed to NSO.

Like a lot BUT most of the essential ones are there day 1! Both ddd and the meta knight theme and three phases of the final boss!
And the best level music too!
Like the only stand out track missing is morpho knight imo!

They sure do love the SNES. I mean, these are timeless soundtracks but I'd love the GBA, GameCube, DS or Wii to get something soon.

Wait! Hold on!

They added the missing F-Zero X Expansion tracks!!!

We get Rainbow Road!!!
I'm honestly shocked, I thought it'd never happen on account of it never getting a soundtrack release (and them previously avoiding to mix new masters and soundtrack releases), not to mention this game not even being on N64 NSO in Japan.

Good sign that they'll add tracks from New Horizons' Happy Home Paradise DLC in the near future.

I also expect them to add Splatoon 3's DLC and the remaining StreetPass games this way.

And well... The remainder of Kirby and the Forgotten Land's tracks.

It's been a long time since we got a DS game.

I'd like for either a DS or Wii U game this time.

I'm ok with Luigi's Mansion. As far as tunes I'd listen to on their own, I prefer the sequels (especially Dark Moon). But Luigi's Mansion 1 is such a unique vibe, and still has the best boss themes

I find it hilarious that mother****ing Chauncey of all characters gets a playlist but King Boo has to share his music with regular Boos.

Also Luigi and E. Gadd both got a playlist.

So, we've had the app for around half a year.

What do you think of the app now? What do you think of its music selections? Are there things you feel are missing? Are there things you think happen too often?

I still it frequently because there are still some great soundtracks on it, but it peaked at launch. Like most of soundtracks I listen to are ones included when the game came out.

Launch had some really smart additions like Kirby Star Allies and Mario kart 8 which are not only great soundtracks in their own right but also feature a lot of songs from throughout the whole series. We haven't seen anything like that since. I'd love to see something like Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 which had all the gym leader and champion themes at the time.

Instead, we keep getting soundtracks that just feel lacking. A lot of NES and SNES soundtracks which are both really small and inferior in quality, I know 8-bit chiptunes can sound good, but it's not the only thing I'd want to listen to.

Again, I still use it, those original soundtracks are still there and we've had some greats like Super Mario 64, Wind Waker, Splatoon 2 and at least a bit of Forgotten Land. And it'll only get better. But it does feel held back.

And how long are you going to make me wait for Majora's Mask?

I like checking out the new tracks every week. Funnily enough I get more out of the smaller soundtracks because it's easier to sample everything or find what I'm looking for.

As is, I like the selection of tracks and I like seeing it grow continually.

on the whole I'd say it's pretty good. we have some truly great soundtracks on it and surely that's the point? as for missing things, well considering the size of nintendo's library it'll probably very easy for a very long time to think of things that are missing.
