Most likely they won't have tourneys online so that it gives us a better reason to go in person. Not that this is better but it gives more enthusiasm to go out and do our best. Furthermore I seriously hope that there will be many tournaments in Georgia so I can actually attend to one I just can't wait to join the scene though.

I got it, how about we had ourselves to our friend list's on our Wii's. To just get ready before Brawl comes around and maybe even play other online games if we have any others. I'm probably getting Mario Strikers soon anyways.

this is a pretty cool thread... i just started playin melee competitively a few months ago, and melee came out when i was 11 and my story is pretty similar to Smash Fi3nd's. so im hopin my success carries on into brawl.

Unfortunately, most of my friends don't want to play as much as I do (even though we play at least for a half hour every time we hang out)

So I know that practicing on random peepz online (hopefully with the occasional Smashboards member, aka good player), i'll be able to practice much more effectively.

Plus online offers that huge diversity of play-styles, something you couldn't get with Melee UNLESS you attended tournaments!

-----------------------------------

So yes, I think the competitive scene will improve. HOWEVER, I also fear Smashboards will be flooded with annoying sub-10-year-old n00bs.

I mean they probably won't notice more subtle adv. techniques like L-canceling, but what will they do when they see a technique even nearly as conspicuous as Luigi's wavedash in Melee?

They'll come here. To Smashboards.

-------------------------------

EDIT: I think online's gonna benefit US a lot though. Since I assume that most of you will practice the advanced techs, I can't wait to hook up with you guys and play some matches.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, does Smashboards have a plan to organize the exchange of Wii codes?

Perhaps it can be put in our profile, or even on every post? Under "JOIN DATE" and "Posts" perhaps?

The new people won't come here, we have no way to communicate in Brawl unless we add each other, which totally defeats the purpose anyway.

The only people that might come here will probably be from gamefaqs or maybe youtube [which is how I found this site].

Hey I'm new to these forums and I am a very competitive player. I want to learn from the best, learn from their mistakes and become the best possible brawl player possible. I love the integration of online play, which will definitely help those who may be in isolated areas to get the necessary practice to become a pro player.

All in all for me, competing at the highest level possible is of the most importance to me. Of course I'm sure that other players do not take gaming as seriously as I do, but for me pushing my skill/talents to the limit is really exhilarating for me

I couldn't agree more. We don't have a "SCENE" for Smash bros. here at my college. But I'd have to say I'm one of the top 5 players here. Being in school has kept me from being able to travel and compete in tournaments to attempt to make a name for myself in the melee scene. Hopefully with me graduating from college this year, I can try to spend some free time while trying to look for work getting into the Brawl scene. Having online as somewhat of an outlet makes things a little easier, but I feel like playing people face-to-face would make for a more genuine experience. Hopefully I'll get to prove myself as a pro this go around.
