If Smash Bros Wii U doesn't have the Menu 2 theme from Brawl, and uses the 3ds version instead, I will be mad. They cut out some of the best parts.

This is so much better than the 3DS version. The menu's look sharp, the music is better. R.I.P 3DS version. You will only be used in the bathroom and in a car.

The 3DS Menu 2 was Melee's Menu 2. There are differences between Melee's and Brawl's Menu 2; they aren't the exact same.

Yes. Brawl's was better and I want it back.

Melee's uses some weird wind ambiance, which Brawl also uses, but you can barely hear it. Melee's is pretty easily heard. Brawl's puts way more emphasis on the bass guitar, which sounds jazzy as ****, by the way and I love it. Basically, Brawl's just has better level balancing and really catches you, while Melee's isn't as front-and-center. I also sense Brawl's version has small changes to the intruments, which I think make it sound better.

Doesn't sound better to me. Just more instruments.

Um, what "R.I.P" are you talking about. Just because the song sounds "better" on the Wii U version that suddenly means the 3DS version is dead? Help me out here, because I don't understand.

Myself and the majority of the Smash Community knows that the Wii U version is going to be way better. It will have tighter gameplay with 0 lag(3DS has lag, especially with interference), competitive 4 v 4 battles, better music, better graphics, better controls(anolog stick, insteado f the circle pad, and a second anolog stick. Plus, controllers can easily be beaten up on and igves us freedom to use AT's), better AT's(DACUS is 100% confrimed for the Wii U version)better online, better competitively fit stages, better casual stages, and easier ways to unlock custom moves. Most of us, and myself, will not touch it unless we are on the go. 90% of everyone's time will be on the 3DS version, and most tournaments will soon be on Wii U.

And? What does better graphics do lol.
Easier ways to unlock custom moves when. Don't see anything regarding them on that version. At this point and time everyone should have them already. Also lol the online is going to lag regardless if it's better or not.. The Wii Lan Adapter is not common.

Many believe that the Wii U version outclasses the 3DS version blatantly in every aspect. He probably meant that the music was just icing on the cake. I hate to be "that guy on the bandwagon", but frankly, I agree. Especially after seeing the 50-Fact Extravaganza Direct. The Wii U version just has more of everything, a much better control scheme (yeah, the circle pad is doable, but isn't practical, and all of the broken circle pads and needless SDs during battles out there will agree), as well as being polished on top of it. It is most definitely going to be the version the competitive scene flocks to as well, due to the controls alone.

This isn't to say the 3DS version is bad, it has its place as a portable Smash Bros. Playing Smash Bros on a plane or in the car is amazing, Smash Run may also be better than Smash Tour, who knows, but at this point, those people who are suggesting that the Wii U version isn't going to be the definitive version, ehhh... Are in a lot of denial. The Wii U version would have to be a complete screw-up in order for this to be true at this point. I probably sound like an arse right now, and I'm sure I'll get flamed, but this is the general consensus since the Direct; don't shoot the messenger.

So what if I don't get a Wii U because I'm not interested in the console. Everyone is going to play that version while the 3DS is collecting dust. Meh.
Don't really care anymore. This is eventually going to form into a flame war.

Man you started it lol :p

A simple joke that seeing Wii U is the superior version, it's even funny that the main theme is superior as well (when they should be the same). That's all.

First off, yeah, I'm really loving the Wii U version... but admittedly, I'm a huge video game music nut and a fan of Junichi Nakatsuru's work in the Soul Calibur and Ace Combat series. I'm not sure if that specific song was a collaboration, but the rising strings that play in the transition at 0:42 is a dead giveaway that he composed it; it's very distinctive of his style. Check out out 0:22 into https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mmx_ptJkGlY&list=PLp68ElH3UbE4oDAviIFebR0uGdbTEE3ql for another example of this if you're interested.

Melee's uses some weird wind ambiance, which Brawl also uses, but you can barely hear it. Melee's is pretty easily heard. Brawl's puts way more emphasis on the bass guitar, which sounds jazzy as ****, by the way and I love it. You're correct in spotting several of these differences between the two, but to be fair, some of it probably takes musical training or a sharp ear to pick out; the levels and balance on the slap bass, for example. Another difference that can be tricky to pick out is the background instrument you hear when the main theme starts at around 0:17 in the Brawl version and 0:12 in the Melee version; the instruments are clearly different. Brawl continues to use the flute-like pad, while Melee uses a very distinct sounding synthesizer. There are differences in reverberation and minor changes to the arrangement itself, all of which change the vibe or feeling of the piece, as you and others have pointed out.

We could spend an hour going over the song piece by piece to compare the two versions, but most people aren't really going to notice it. Unfortunately, the only way to make everyone happy is to include both versions... but I don't see that happening.

Actually, eh, uh. I shouldn't be hating on the Wii U. Competitively, people are going to use the 3DS as a practice tool.
But yes, I'll keep playing the handheld version more even if the other one is out. So... yeah.

I'm not really sure where the Wii U / 3DS enmity comes from, honestly.

The Wii U is for a home console and meant to be enjoyed in high definition in a living-room type environment. The 3DS is streamlined for a mobile platform and meant to be played in shorter sessions or while on the go. Both have their niches, but they're the same game at the master core.

You guys should just...
SETTLE IT... IN...
SMASH!

I just want to bring up that this game is gorgeous. Whereas we've seen earlier builds of in-game pictures, which don't do justice, Yoshi looked just okay, but had very noticeable polygons in his mouth and especially his saddle-back. But here, he looks polished, very well animated and gorgeous. His face, the spikes on his head, etc sway as he moves and he's not a static plastic toy. I can't see those polygons (seems like they added shaders and maps for characters towards the end). This game in-motion in true HD is such a pleasure to view.
