Walking and Foxtrotting really aren't that good. They're just slightly better alternatives over being committed to your dash.I think it's fine movement wise. For me, walking and foxtrotting are important.

I have more control with walking. I try to use running to close the distance.Walking and Foxtrotting really aren't that good. They're just slightly better alternatives over being committed to your dash.
It's not that they feel good that bugs me, it's just that I can't play sm4sh competitively cause it argues against everything I've trained myself to do by instinct. Most people agree that rolls in Smash 4 are too good. I hope they get slowed down in the future.
It's one way to move unless you're wanting wavedashing back.Yeah but its still not really a 'movement option.' Walking is 100% standard to all fighting games lol
Even just legit dash dancing would be enough to make me happy. There's extremely little mix up in the movement game. Doesn't need to be fast, doesn't need to be wave dashing, just has to provide options which is something Sm4sh seriously lacks. It's one way to move unless you're wanting wavedashing back.
mewho the **** is roboturner?
and why did i miss a melee tournament i could have gone to.
You dash, you walk, and you jump. That's all you can do.Can you go into depth about this lacking movement mixup?
Potential disadvantage? You might as well not play fighting games because everything comes with a risk. You dash, you walk, and you jump. That's all you can do.
The pivots and all of the stuff that you can do out of your dash are extremely situational due to the game's system mechanics (except for rolling, spotdodging, or shielding, which are all rather predictable and punishable since you can't really do much else). Walking is slow. Jumping puts you at a disadvantage because of the nerf to air-game in general.
We want options that won't put us at a potential disadvantage 66% of the time.
I've played plenty of fighting games where a lot of the movement options and blocked combo strings were made safe by in-game mechanics, including SF4, thank you very much.Potential disadvantage? You might as well not play fighting games because everything comes with a risk.
There's a lot of mixup potential in those three movement options. If you can't see it, that's your problem.
I have the game, MAR. I'm just lazy about playing it right now.I thought someone would have it by now <.<. The Nintendo Gamecube adapters on non existent so it's impossible for me to play. OR RATHER I refuse to play without my gamecube controller. The retail price for them is 20$ the online price is 200$ IF you can find one. No one in the BR area has one ;_;?
I shoulda known V was holding out on me. Always V :II have the game, MAR. I'm just lazy about playing it right now.
As a last resort, you could use the GameCube controllers that connect to wii motes. I know that they have lag on them, but it's the best you can do until more GC adapters are available.I thought someone would have it by now <.<. The games learning curve is non-existent.
The game isn't nearly as technical as melee or anything, so a lot of the skill at the higher levels of play comes from the complexity of your mind games. The fundamental aspect of the game is relatively simple to grasp.Picking up the game? Yeah.
Winning Apex and the like? I wish.
Meh. I'm still deciding on if I actually enjoy the game or not, so I'm probably not even the best person to play with right, tbh.I shoulda known V was holding out on me. Always V :I
Yeah, they dropped the ball on some of these decisions. Rolling feels way too safe. Shieldstun is nonexistent too, so you have to space extremely well or you're getting shieldgrabbed every time.Team for glory is a lot of fun. 1v1 for glory not so much. Everybody on 1v1 FG just abuses rolls and it's really boring to play. If that's any indication of how the 1v1 meta is going to develop, than I don't expect to be playing it very seriously. But I'm really interested in how teams may play out.
Also the rage mechanic is the silliest thing I've ever seen. One match I was marth against an incredibly campy Link player. He had me at %210 but couldn't land a kill move, I had him at %40. He messed up one time and I landed a tipper fsmash in the middle of the stage that killed him. Another match I was falcon and I had %150 against a Zelda at like %36. I hit her with a raptor boost and she died. It's ridiculous. Incredibly bad design for competitive play.
