The Legend of Spyro 3D
The upcoming animated 3D Spyro film, intended to be the first of a franchise, currently due for release Christmas 2009.

Christmas 2009

Plot
A special dragon egg was hidden in a woodland full of dragonflies by Ignitus to save it from evil forces that were hunting it. Brought up alongside Sparx, Spyro is led to believe that he himself is a dragonfly who just happens to be slightly bigger and purpler than the other dragonflies.

Until one day when the village is attacked and Spyro is found. Instinctively using his unknown powers, Spyro realises just how different he is. Confused and upset, he learns that he is not in fact a dragonfly, but a dragon who carries the role of being part of a great prophecy that will bring peace to all the land.

Spyro, along with his trusty sidekick Sparx pursue this epic adventure and attempt the impossible; the demise of the deadly Dark Master. However, between them stands Cynder, a very powerful black dragon powered by the red crystal around her neck, which enslaves her to the Dark Master.

I am speechless.

EDIT: That was not meant to be a complement.

I remember seeing this quite a while ago. There are absolutely no redeeming values thus far, as the crew absolutely sucks.

But nevertheless, the little fanboy within me is slightly excited about this.

Whatever happened to all the old franchises anyway?

Sonic, Spyro, and Crash were all highly successful and iconic and pretty darn good (I'm told). But for some reason, all the flagship icons were put in aweful game after aweful game.

As much as I dislike EA videogames, the company would never release a GTA as bad as Sonic '06.

I miss the childhood icons.

Hearing Spyro called old makes me feel like an old man...

I remember when all those fancy PS1 games were new...

...Maybe it's just because I didn 't own a playstation back than and had more awe for it's games because I couldn't buy them.

Edit: LOL, it says "From the producers of Eragon" - Wasn't that movie so horrible it made little kids cry? ...I never saw it but that's what I heard

At least watching it should be better than playing the new trilogy.

Spyro: Adventurous, Curious, Eager, Proud, Cute.

Okay, honestly? Cute? He was in the games sort of, but after looking at the artwork of him I can't see how they can possibly call him cute. =/
I'm not much of a spyro fanboy but what I did play on friends Playstations I'd say they're pretty good games...
Just PLEASE do not make a movie about of Crash or Frogger. There's already an animation about Sonic but at least one of the ones made was apparently good.

The story line to this film is the exact same thing as Spyro: A New Beginning.
That was a terrible game that had hardly any redeeming features, so unless you read Wikipedia this will be a better and more entertaining way to experience the story, which most Spyro fans know already.

New Beginning took around 3 or 4 hours to complete, and it wasn't enjoyable, the only memorable parts being the flying sections. I'd sooner sit down and watch something than have to play through repetitive button mashing gameplay to reach the same conclusion.

I won't rush out to watch the film, as I already know how it ends, but if I had a choice I'd watch the film, then play Spyro Year of the Dragon.
