Ok, so, I'm not sure if this is well known or anything, or if it has already been posted, but here goes:
One of my favorite things to do in Brawl is to mess with the game and figure out glitches. So one day, I started messing with ledgehang-quickdrop-shorthoping (LHDSH) a Falco phantasm. I discovered that depending on where you use the FP relative to the edge, four different things can happen.
1)Falco will simply grab the edge with the FP animation trailing behind him.
2) Falco will grab the edge, but the hitbox of the FP will go into the stage and extend to the center.* Opponents may get damaged by it.
3) Falco will sort of pop up a little then fall without grabbing the ledge.
4) Falco will appear on the very edge of the stage facing forward in his idle animation, ready to attack.
The one I find most intriguing is #4, because AFAIK, that's pretty close to Wolf's scarring. The timing is sort of hard to pull of and explain, but you'll eventually be able to know when. I think this can be useful when mastered to surprise attack opponents.
Also, when I went frame by frame, I saw that what caused Falco to suddenly appear on the edge is this: There is a single frame where you can see Falco face-up, with most of his body stuck inside the stage, and near the center. This only lasts for one frame, so it's practically undetectable at the game's average frame rate. I'm guessing that Falco's magic trick is caused by the game getting confused by his unnatural position, and putting him in the next best place in terms of sense.
So, please discuss, tell me if this is worth mastering (specifically #4), and please don't flame. I don't appreciate that crap.
*NOTE- This was tested on Final Destination, left side.
