Oh man, I've gone trough it so many times. After winning a game (especially today, after Hollan vs Brazil) I usually go berserk. I like football, I used to watch the national cups and all, but nowadays, it's only the World Cup.
After we won a match, I went on a roll, spamming everyone that I saw online anywhere, yelling loud and being generally excited. I agree, this is somewhat overreacting, but then there's always the person that tells me "chill man its only a game lol no need to go crazy".
It annoys me to no en that they are unable to see what the actual meaning is behind the World Cup or international football. It's being though that the fans only go crazy because of the winning. This holds truth, but it's only the instigation. What makes you actually go crazy when a team that you have no affiliation (?) with, other than having the same nationality scores?
It's the feeling of fraternity and uniting with people. Normally, during national games, there's always some hate between the clubs, but the mooment international play is there, it's all forgotten. Everyone joins together to support their group, for the feeling of being united as a country against a common enemy; the opposing team.
I knowt that you don't like football, and I know that you don't get a feeling out of it from winning, but man, at least understand that there are people out there that do care about football, but more importantly, the sensation and feeling.
Saying football is "just a game" is really a bit of a gut-blow to a supporter of a club/country. Remember, football fans are just like women. If you want to keep 'em as a friend, just be nice and lie;
"Yea, it's really cool that you beat them" or "well done". A team's victor is a supporters victory.
