The grapple to stage

Do theNORMAL grapple to the stage for recovery really make some difference, or it's the same thing that if you just do your up-b?

If you just grapple, then you gain height because you can use your ^B after the grapple.
I think the ^B itself has more overall distance. I could be wrong though, unless you did a rising grapple, which has more height that an ^B but you can't grab the ledge as soon as the ^B. Rising grapple to ^B wins in overall distance, but if you can do think, you'd probably make it back to the stage even if you didn't do it.

If you grapple into a wall sloped like this
o = you
\ = wall

o-->\

Then when you get up, you will ride higher, but even at that it might not be much. And what do you mean by NORMAL grapple? Because you know that the extender doesn't lengthen when you do it in the air...
