~The Goods~

Well, since Online play is not "Confirmed" yet, there is a HUGE chance its going to happen and of course, it has been requested alot. So what im getting at, is that with SSBB being online is going to be the best thing ever imagined.

I imagine that Tournaments will be much easyer and will give an extreme advantage for people who like being in clans. This game will make things more competitive for everyone and for sure keep everyone in touch with their competitive side.

~The Bads~

Now, i know this has been asked alot, but if you fight someone online, will you be able to unlock secret Newcomers that the person your fighting has? Maybe there will be some thing to keep that from happening.

If that were to happen, for most people, they would think that "It will ruin the Game" But, there might be some solution to this... How about not going online at all untill you find every single character and stage. It Sounds hard and will probably be hard, but is there any other way?

~WiFi Problems Over All~

Anyways, switching to wifi problems, how bad will lag be? Maybe lag will be caused by all the players that will get SSBB or maybe even your WiFi conection. This might be quite a bother for players if you see a character in one side of the stage and suddenly, it gets laggy and that character starts dissapearing and poping up in places. Now that will be some trouble...

And finally, Spamerz, Glitcherz and Hackerz. The major cause of ruining the fun out of a game. Some people you find in WiFi will probably know a limited amount of moves and use the over and over again. That will probably keep you from getting too close to them or attacking them.

For any glitches found in the game, the all around famous GLITCHERZ will spam them every chance they get, making all of us people, playing fairly, very very mad.

And if the all around famous AR makes a come back to the Wii, we will be the worst news to us all. All of those Casual Gamers (see Deffinition Below) or atleast some of the casual gamers will use their AR to instantly kill people and cheat their way to victory.

~Teh Conclusion~
Now, if you people have something to add to any of both lists, feel free to do so. Or if you have your very own solution on how some problems could be avoided, feel free to say them too. Thank You All:)

~MMK

*Casual Gamer- Casual Gamer is only a name to classify some people by the way they play. Usually with real easy games or hacks.

The Badz~ would be if they use Friend Code options to play with anyone.

I mean they must put some kind of chat (like starcraft or diablo) when you have the guys online and look for players to play.
Or have you played Unreal Tournament or Counter Strike? Such online games have like games in action which plays as long as ppl are logged and you can see which options are enabled/disabled(Could be such as: "Items ON, Items OFF, Stock, Time 5:00, Coins"

You know..

ooooh i like this thread anyway

i think a good one u could add is better chance at finding people at your skill level or someone to play with if noone lives near u or something

one bad could be that if there is a ranking system there will be many more cheaters

P.S. sorry if it was already said

What does the TC mean by "For any glitches found in the game, the all around famous GLITCHERZ will spam them every chance they get, making all of us people, playing fairly, very very mad."

does he mean advanced techniques like Wavedashing that aren't glitchesm or does he mean glitches like Super Jump that no one would do in a real battle?

I think he means glitches like black hole that easily happen by mistake very often.
</sarcasm>

or possibly glitches like the ice climber's freeze glitch that will kill people very quickly and make them quite upset.

Yeah, what do you mean by glitches? Because someone is using the same thing over and over again, they're gonna get hardcore pwned.

And I assume the game breaking glitches like the freeze glitch/soul stunner are being removed from Brawl, along with other one like black hole and battlefield thunderjolts.

pros of online brawl
-easier to find human opponents
-easier to enter tourneys
-I believe it will improve your game faster.
-easier to record games
-lots and lots of fun at your finger tips.

cons of online brawl
-online lag? disconnects?
-lots and lots of noobs
-the absense of satisfaction of playing against your opponent beside you: the taunts, comments, watching then breakdown, cry, say "I PRESSED B DAMMIT!!!", and the OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHS from the crowd over a combo.
-Hackers ofcourse.

That is all I can think of.

Well If its true that only 1% of smasher uses adv techs, well its going to be quite boring fighting noob after noob after noob; but hey maybe seeing as I can 4 stock a lvl 9 char for hours. Anyway as soon as brawl comes out I better see a topic asking for friend codes.

Oh and we shouldnt worry about spammers we can mutilate them in melee Im pretty sure we can mutilate them in brawl.

We are glitchers (wave dash possibly some forms of canceling)

Hackers seem to be the only problem that worries me. I propose gamegaurd for brawl.

"Hacking" does not happen in online fighting games, what happens is lag abuse. Like Ryu using his unblockable super in 3s, you have to parry it in a normal game (Think powershielding) to combat it, but in online play the lag is often too bad to properly parry it and you get hit, people abuse that.

Theres a way to get passed the hackers. Just battle people you know. I think an online License would be cool (Like in Metroid Hunters). The worst thing I can think of is how laggy it will be.

Well, i know not many hackers do their stuff on fighting games, but if they do, maybe nintendo could put some kind of firewall or something against anything that doesnt seem right.

Oh and me mentioning Glitching, i dont mean Wavedashing or any of the Advanced Techniques. I meant like something real stupid, like, for example.... a person does something with the enviroment that makes Kirby move and attack while in his B-Down form, making him unhitable (unless maybe you can grab the person, but the glitch doesnt exist, its just an example if it were possible)

Lol I know that glitch. You have to choose kirby on DL64 and proition yourself perfectly on line with the edge, then go upwards about 3 jumps. the tree has to be blowig in your direction for this to work, because you have to hit te gound and slide of the edge within 6 frames. Then you are stuck as rock kirby. No attacks affect you except grabs, so it's really gay.

I'm glad you don't want it in online.

mario strikers charged, works fine on WiFi even when you have a 4 way match. . . so i dont think lag will be that much of a problem, unless you dont hae broadband

About the "lag" if it is a frame it won't hurt at all. However remember this is made by Sakurai. He knows lag may ruin a fast pace game like this. And he is spending a lot of his time on this. He'll figure something out.(he said there is leaps in going online, which means he is working on the lag. )
Also the noob problem is solved since we have a Friend-code. If there is rooms don't go in it.
SSBM was a rushed game. This time Sakurai is working hard on SSBB, whoever says that there will be any imperfections is stupid.

Pro: It's online.
Con: Doesn't matter; it's outweighed by the pro.
Yeah, to people who don't want online, its better that there is online, and you don't play it.

Just because you wouldn't enjoy online, doesn't mean it shouldn't be in, others will... so online needs to be in brawl, for everyone's sake.

Besides, the cons wouldn't be that much trouble, still be fun.

You sound pretty optimistic, man. Realistically, however, there's going to be some lag. No amount of work on an online game can admonish lag simply because connections between users do fluctuate all the time. The only thing that Sakurai could possibly do is tweak the gameplay mechanics in accordance to the lag that may occur. Take Halo 2's auto-aim and the large hitboxes of the Elite/Master Chief toons, for example. As long as you place the reticule over somebody else and you are within range, you're guaranteed to nail them with a bullet---especially one that is potentially fatal. I know that sounds pretty insipid on my part, but it tends to be ridiculous when you get a headshot from a Magnum that was aiming for your sternum (I've tested it out with a buddy of mine before). That was Bungie's answer to lag---a pretty crappy one, in my humble opinion, but an answer nonetheless (though I must say that they have cleaned up some of the stuff in the Halo 3 Beta).

The "n00b" solution was solved rather simply. Friend codes are the order of the day here. I can't really say anything else about that. Sakurai did mention, in passing, that if there was an online component that there would not be a ranking system.

The real question is what kind of tweaks could there be to the core game to make it more palatable to online play? Sakurai and Company have worked on this game for a long time, there's no doubt. However, we only know as much as we have been given so far. Hopefully Sakurai and Company'll shed some light on this mystery in the future.

They are annoying... you can only have a cetarin number...

and what if I want to battle someone I don't know...

Why should I write down several numbers when I could just go online and find "McCloud Master" and battle you. I also like the idea of playing people around the world, do rather than getting friend codes here, I'd have to go to a Japaense message board. FCs are terrible.

Never thought about that XD. But MPH has FC's and you can battle random people. Also if you make a name like Fox McCloud alot of people will copy that name like F0x McCl0ud etc, So it would be hard to find that person you are looking for.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be FCs I'm just saying random matches should be an option as well, or even searchinn for usernames. I mean it's so stupid, parents if your worried about your kids put on the parental control, don't make responsible people suffer. It's just not fair.

It's not that hard.... lets say I wanted to do a 4 stock match with no items on Final Destination, the game would find someone else who'd want the same thing, or someone will browse through challenges and accept yours.

Random matches have been a given since Mario Kart DS. Searching for usernames also doesn't make sense. There could be 100 people with the same username, but only one person with a specific friend code.

Umm... hasn't it been confirmed that you only need ONE online friend code for all games? I thought someone from the Mario Strikers: Charged team said that.

Oh, also, goods and bads?

Every heard of pros and cons?

That is a good thing, not a bad thing. Especially for players like me who would rather not play single-player to unlock things. I will if I have to... but it would be better for the above, and other players that do want to unlock in single-player, to play single-player first.

They should have the same thing they have for other online games, such as public matches, private matches, etc, etc. It would make the most sense for those who want to play with friends and those who don't.

Hey, i actually got an idea for online and you guys tell me if i should make it into a thread.

Its about Adventure mode and Classic mode but online

Adventure Mode- You tag with one person, A friend or someone random and you complete Adventure mode with them.

Classic- all the characters that you face are other random people. There are no extra stages like race to the finish or break the targets.

so, what do you think?
