Aight, so I know the Game of Knees is out there, but this is a more training-oriented game that me and Palpi played once or twice that really helps (Helped us, at least).

Basically, he was playing Marth at the time, and I was playing Falcon. No aerials were used, and we didn't really jump. Essentially, we just grabbed. The rules, as described by Palpi for a scoring method, are as follows:

to practice dash dancing
we just dance space eachother
if you land a grab
you get 2 points
if you punish someone for missing a grab
you get 1 point
When you do this, you really start to see where your spacing issues are. Normally when I fight a Marth, I look for his jump so I can rush in and grab him as he lands. The problem is that good Marths don't jump (Shoutouts to Hax?). They actually seem to play similarly to Falcon, using Marth's decent DD and long grab range to punish spacing with grabs. I find that when I fight Marths like this, I get really caught up because I don't really understand how to counter someone who is using the same groundgame strategy as me.

This game helps with that. It forces you to analyze your opponent's spacing and where his limits of control on the ground are (Grabwise). And it's really ****ing hard. So... yeah. Any thoughts?

I would probably take this to maybe 20 stock, and use stocks as the point system.

99 stock if you have some time on your hands.

Other than that, just play normally, the extra emphasis on grabs would factor in greatly due to the point system.

Still, this is a good idea, and the grab game (both avoiding and getting grabs) is something I need to work on.

This actually sounds like a pretty good idea. I was playing friendlies earlier with a really good Marth and I really had to rely a lot on proper spacing on my DD and my grabs to get those grabs to finally be able to combo him. This could be a really good way to practice that, especially for those more tricky Marths. Though, I would say just play the neutral game like the grab game and play normally after you get a grab/hit. As long as you emphasize what you're practicing with your opponent, it could be a great way to practice this.
