So I realized that this place got a K pop thread before an Electronic Thread. How that happens, I have no idea.

So yeah, electronic music. House, Ambient, Drum n' Bass, "IDM," all that stuff. Might as well start with some recs.

Aphex Twin (The guy in the above gif, in case you're curious): A pretty noteworthy guy whose works range form Ambient (Selected Ambient Works Volume 2) to Drum n' Bass (Drukqs)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0q1gCsZykg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iEl7OKrLGI

Boards of Canada: A scottish electronic duo whose Ambient Techno stuff takes me to another world

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7bKe_Zgk4o

Flying Lotus: Covers a wide variety of genres. Badically, everytjing this guy touches turns to gold. I would highly recommend his album Until the quiet comes, which I think is the closest any album has come to feeling like a dream.

Igorrr: An incredibly interesting find. His music is based on the unholy combination of Breakcore, Death Metal, and Baroque Classical. The thing is, that only begins to touch upon what he covers. In one song, he might throw in a Texas Two-step, an Old-Time Jazz Sample, some pounding metal riffs, and classical parts to create a wholly original piece. He's kind of like the Mike Patton of electronic music, and I highly recommend him (Just approach it with an open mind)

Oh **** I haven't listened to that in forever.

Cool album. Took a while for it to click, but it was worth it.

i hate to constantly harp on you White Mage but there is no way in the world that LIGHTS does not fit into the pop/dance thread. if we include her in this thread we might as well include any musicians that make music with a computer which means everybody in the world nowadays.

anyways. my classic favs:

DNTEL
Downbeat glitch chillout. DNTEL is 1/2 of The Postal Service, whose album Give Up is one of the best modern pop-electro albums in like 20 years. His solo albums like Life is Full of Possibilities, Early Works For Me if It Works For You and Something Always Goes Wrong changed my life. LIFOP is an album that is extremely close to me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEDEnBmrrMg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSUv7UrhmM0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyispolH20Q (this is the first Postal Service song, it's the song that gave birth to that project)

Aphex Twin seems to be the go-to posterboy whenever anyone mentions non-dance electro, and it's just as well because he is an absolute prodigy and you can hear his influence in literally everything nowadays. I like the more chillout and ambient side of RDJ more than the frenetic spasms of his percussion heavy stuff but it's all genius really. my favorite albums are Drukqs, Richard D James, i care because you do and Selected Ambient Works vol 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUT3KoxVzQg "Alberto Balsalm" will probably always be my fav AFX track

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkVT2NwiAgY "Stone in Focus"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCSrMEsaNAM "Girl/Boy Song" great mix of the abrasive drumwork and the melodic ambient textures

I've just recently stopped ignoring Squarepusher even though he's the other big name in IDM and experimental electro. Recently listened to his album Just a Souvenir which is pretty crazy. lots and lots and lots of jazz samples and general jazz influence. you can tell that DJs like Flying Lotus listened to a lot of Squarepusher

speaking of Flying Lotus

some other stuff

Steve Hauschildt Tragedy and Geometry is a beautiful minimalist chillout masterpiece http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac_UW-ykStw

Hey LT, ever heard of Venetian Snares? Pretty cool breakcore who also takes inspiration from other genres such as Classical, Jazz, and even videogame music

Speaking of "Electronic Jazz," there's also Amon Tobin, who I'm pretty sure was a massive influence on Flylo

so did I misunderstand your post? i read your post as "oh aphex twin and amon tobin i thought this was going to be a real electronic music thread, peace". if not, i have no idea what you were trying to say, and why you didn't post or talk about any electronic music in the electronic thread. if you don't have time to contribute something or even make a coherent discussion about anything, is it really necessary to post?

I think Luigitoilet is trying to compensate for something.

Maybe that's why he's such a self-righteous ****head.

I'm sorry I don't like you Yodery. no need to get personal with hypothetical personal issues that you imagine me to have!

so, uh, i guess i'll post some more electro music to pick up the slack.

oh actually I can use this thread to plug my own music Jill Sandwich

http://tindeck.com/listen/ewuk this song's old now but i still like it

https://soundcloud.com/jill-sandwich/go-forth-young-blood this song is the first thing i ever completed. i made it on a gameboy sequencer. it kinda sucks i guess.

https://soundcloud.com/jill-sandwich/athena-****-seed-w-demo here is a song about patriarchy. some of the drum sounds are lame and i went crazy at the end but it's still neat imo

here's the intro track for my debut EP which was supposed to be finished at the beginning of January but my computer **** the bed so I only have t his intro to work with now. https://soundcloud.com/jill-sandwich/the-precept i really really like this one

even though you didn't listen to a ny of those, LIKE MY FACEBOOK PAGE anyways

Yeah, you did. It was meant as in, "oh i like these artists, let me post in here real quick to bump and subscribe in one quick post"

I love FlyLo etc. I'm not some hipster elitist ****head trying to be sarcastic.

Autechre's new album was amazing. Pretty weird on the first listen, but when it clicks...

Also I know I'm going to be the minority here, but I thought the new Atoms for Peace was pretty good.

Atoms For Peace was good. I'd give it a 7/10. nothing mindblowing and it sounds less like a band and more like Thom Yorke Macbook Pieces...buuuut, it's ****ing Thom Yorke. the guy could release a record that is just sounds of him clearing his throat and farting in the mic and on some level I would be in love.

new Bubblegum Octopus song!! was originally gonna post this in the metal thread, but BGO's music continues to stray further and further from grindcore/metal stylings to the intricacies of electronic composition. It's not for everyone...and if my experiences have taught me anything, it isn't for most people, but he is definitely one of my biggest artistic influences and idols.
