The stage? Confirmed. Music? Confirmed. Finally, Yoshi has been revealed, finally bringing an end to the “Is Yoshi in brawl?” speculation of his exclusion. Also, it shows that at the very least, one character can shield, as we can see with a pic of his unshielding animation.

Not a lot to add, other than the guys who take the pictures certainly have a sense of humor. However, one very cool bit of news for Yoshi fans: “Among other things, he can now use his up special move, the Egg Toss, to increase the distance of his jump. That’s enough to earn him a hearty welcome, isn’t it?”

I’m glad Yoshi is back! And he looks happy about it.. lol
Lot’s of people underestimate Yoshi as a character!
Now being able to increase the distance of his jump with the egg toss he will be even more powefull!

Another thing not related to the Topic… Lot’s of people allways ask for sonic, and Megamen, and this , and that, and say that will not buy the game if they aren’t there.. That’s so stupid.. I like sonic and i dont really like megamen but if they are in the game or not i dont care.. The game will still be AWESOME! And c’mon you start asking for sonic, and then you want more like Tails and Knuckles… Sonic as a playable character is enough! Tails and knuckles can be a Assist trophy! The same goes to Megamen and Zero…
Sorry for the off-topic post but it makes me mad sometimes to ear some demands and people sayind that they will not buy the game if this or that.. someone who says that it’s NOT a real SMASH BROS fan.

hmm… not much has changed other then the egg throwing thing… hopefully you can throw the people you lay as eggs iv always wanted to do that… how did he get on DK’s head? hmm… oh and thats not his shield its his egg roll thing… you know, on eledin bridge that move would be devastating…

Yoshi on Dk’s head only further varifies the new physics of this game. imagine jumping on a players head and down smashing. Or hitching a ride on Bowser?

anyways that egg hatching could be yoshi’s forward b. though it’s nice to assume it is otherwise.

I believe i’m starting to like the new flavor of these characters. i hope this helps in making the game equal to all characters.

I for one LOVE the way Yoshi looks here. It is, by far, the best redesign I’ve seen. Yoshi looked far too awkward and, well, dinosaur-ish in SSBM and SSB. This finally looks like the Yoshi we all know and love.

I think that instead of giving him a 3rd jump they should’ve tried some other ways to make Yoshi’s recovery unique, like giving his aerials faster and have more priority and perhaps by giving a bit more distance to his 2nd jump.
Meh… It’s not my call.

Yoshi’s a unique character. Everyone loves the character, but everyone hates the games (excluding the ones in which he has baby Mario on his back, but then in those games everyone hates baby Mario).

I really hope that he can JC his shield this time. His main weaknesses in Melee were his slow/low priority aerials (and in turn his recovery) and the fact that he couldn’t utilize his shield as effectively.

Man, when are they just going to confirm Metanight?! he’s in a lot of the other pictures, they should just confirm him, all the pictures he’s been in so far can almost be one themselves.

^^ Sakurai has said that a third-party character like Snake should be unlocked, so they probably won’t update about Snake until either right before or after Brawl comes out.

Easily the best Yoshi design so far. He looks like he did in Super Mario Sunshine. Donkey Kong looks suprised :)

It kinda looks like a taunt, maybe he throws an egg or something and does a little happy dance thingy. Also, i hope their are more moves in this game….there defenitly will be

In the second picture Yoshi looks like he’s riding on DK’s back. Is that an attack or is he just jumping?

Heres sumthin to think about… i think yoshi might have a slightly different moveset [aside from the change to the up b]

yoshi’s tail is much shorter not that he has his newer design instead of the yoshi’s island design

his smash down A, air bak-tilt, down tilt, air up tilt use his tail as an attack

good point but about this shielding thing ive seen pictures of link blocking metaknight blocking nd fox nd all three were without bubbles but diffrent for example wen metanight shielded in hte trailer he turned invisible wen link did it he used his sword sry ik its irrelevant just it seems like every1’s saying they havnt seen people block nd they have nd there is no more bubble….nd yoshis recovery should be rediculous now nd also i agree with the guy above me about his moves good catch i didnt notice his tail was shorter

Well Sakurai said each character was getting a new flavor, it can only be assumed that his second jump haas been down sized. Also one can also consider that his third jump sucks and barely gets him anywhere. I’m just happy that Yoshi can jump out of meteor smashes now.

but if u think about it should b hard 2 edge guard cuz he can do arials during his second jump nd throw eggs at u 2 so still even if his second jump sux his recovery still improved alot

Loc40 has a really good point but his tail could strech even though its shorter(like foxs leg did in that one pic)

Also they can just shorten the length of his tail attcks (different flavor)

MetroidMan: I doubt it’s his SSB64 entrance. the “This world” update showed that trophies are the theme of the game, so it’s pretty safe to say they won’t be back.

To the Egg Throw 3rd jump: I remember seeing someone mention that in one of Yoshi’s game he can sort of… throw himself when he’s in an egg. I don’t know what that looks like exactly, but maybe it’s just like the old B^ except that now it’s a larger egg with Yoshi inside of it, and he pops out afterwards.

I’m guessing the yoshi riding DK is just Sakurai having fun with screenshots, like how the Special Movie was in melee.

… the tail really is kind of freakishly short now. Bizarre.

I wonder if the 2nd screen shot means that certain characters can have smaller characters ride on their backs. That’d make for some interesting gameplay.

My guess for how the egg toss will work with increasing his jump is that it’ll maybe work similar to Ness’s upward special

qdMbp: to my best knowledge sakurai won’t do that. It could be that he just jumps when he throws the egg.

But I don’t believe the second screen shows all of yoshi on Dk and look at Dk’s response. Yoshi isn’t attacking DK (no attack motion) but DK still has an abnormal reaction to it signifying that there is a yoshi to Dk connection in the game. So It only leaves new gameplay options.

Alpha:Yeah i was think that maybe when you jump on your foes that instead of going through them oraround them. You grab on to them allowing newn strategies. It might be with jigglypuff (if you can’t gothrough players) that she has to do this action before initiating rest.

Really there are many possibilities

the tail cud stretch like falcofuku69 says but his body is less stretched out horizontly now, hes more humanoid now
so for the stretching thing to werk his whole body wud need 2 stretch

i expect more tung/head/feet attacks now instead of tail attacks

[imagines yoshi punching] lol =p
