I was just thinking about this today and I asked some of my friends and it seened liable so I thought I would just post my mind ramblings.
So you think your past player in melee(if you played it) has any effect on the style of play you bring with Olimar. For example I mained Peach, and it seems from watching some of my own matches that i'm a really aerial player.
My friend who plays Olimar aswell, used to play fox. I asked him what he thought and he realized how him playing Fox in Melee, led to him playing more fast paced than someone normally would.

Do you fell that your past main affects the way you play now.
Post your thoughts.

I think it would have effected my style of play, if I was any good at Melee. When I was playing Melee I was like 9-10 years old, do you think I could understand what an AT was or anything like that? I played against my friends who were just as bad as me, but Dair Link spam was enough to win =\

I mained Jiggs and ICs in melee, and I guess my playing ICs has lead me to really incorporate grabs into my Olimar game.

I played pikachu, though he didn't affect my transition very much though.

I actually think my play, and maybe the game in general, has gone back to Smash 64 significantly. I, along with everyone else, played Kirby, and it was so satisfying to throw people out of the screen. I'm so glad throw kills are back after not being able to ever get one in Melee.

In melee I played random (Sonic and tails).
However, my spacing of my foward b came from Link. Air is from jigglypuff. Tilts from Marth. Comboes from Samus. And so on.

Best of everything.

EDIT:: Not owning Wii prevents me from continuing being '?' or Tails.

I played Zelda in Melee. If you watch my youtube videos from Melee and compared them with Brawl you'll see a ton of carry over.. Right down to the fact that I'm either gimped at 30% or live to over 200%.

I played Ice Climbers in Melee, and yes I do think it carried over, I grab more than I should in some cases, and I try to spike alot (You see, I practiced spiking ALOT in my later Melee days when I had found out about advanced techniques and the like). Even just in general, Olimar's playstyle (Useless without help, bad recovery, but awesome smashes) reminded me of the ICs and brought me to maining him.

If you want to see the biggest effects from past mains, watch any video from Melee of me and my brother (Adat), and compare with the Dedede vs. Olimar videos up now. The parallels that can be drawn are kind of scary considering that Dedede and Olimar weren't in Melee.

I was just wondering if like maybe maining a certain character in the past, mad eyou play Olimar in a certain way that gave you an edge up. I feel that my aining Peach helps because i've worked it to the point where I, in matches are usually unpredictable. I think this came from my Peach because of turnip mindgames, and always trying out different things in the air.

If you had to pick one, which Melee charcter does give the best results towards playing an Olimar.
