The EB Games Boxart

If one New Jersey EB Games is to be believed, Nintendo has a few more aces up its sleeve for the hotly anticipated Wii title Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

GameDaily has posted a scan of the placeholder box art for Brawl, which prominently features announced characters Mario, Solid Snake, Pikachu, Samus Aran and Link. Of particular note are the characters who have yet to be announced but make the cover, including Sega's very own Sonic the Hedgehog, Ubisoft mascot Rayman and Birdo of Super Mario Bros. 2 fame. The scan comes off of a game box from a Woodbridge Center, New Jersey EB Games store.

While the cover art appears professionally done, and even includes an ESRB rating of E10+, Nintendo has in no way confirmed or denied the presence of any of the unannounced characters in Brawl. Whether or not GameStop had knowledge of these characters being playable and prematurely leaked the information is unknown. Since only one EB Games appears to have this knowledge, readers should remain cautious and consider this story rumor until confirmation is made by Nintendo.

It's header (the part that says nintendo wii) is a different shape than the normal Wii games. I used to work at a game store, and when we were taking reservations for a game that had not released its box art, we would make our own. We did it for Legend of Zelda using photoshop and a Twilight princess screen. I even tacked it behind a gamecube header. I would say that that is a fairly well done shopping.

It is fake. Go to Google and search "super smash brothers brawl box art" and you will get many results and almost every one is different. And to further prove it to you, look at this render of Sonic. Look familiar? It is a render made for Sonic The Hedgehog for the 360. Someone did really good at photoshop.

I'm guessing fake because it doesn't have the WFC logo. Also, I feel like I've seen that Sonic picture somewhere else before.

Looks like they took the layouts from some kids website and turned it into a boxart.

I don't think both Samus and Zamus are making the cover, I only see Samus on it for some reason, but it's not something I'm about to bet on

Another thing has anyone noticed there's no Nintendo Wifi logo, and also ESRB hasn't rated the game yet.

EDIT: Everyone should no by now that it was fake, an EB Games employee made this to use as a pre-order box. Now the question is whether or not the EB Games employee that made the box art had prior information that these were confirmed characters or not.

The picture of Fox on the ox is from SFA, not from BRawl. That alone, plus the fact that every picture there is from still shots already on the net....

It's fake, simply because of the fact that SNAKE is on the box-art.

Nobody puts unlockables on the cover, not even freaking Nintendo.

The final nail in the coffin is the fact that KK Slider is on the cover. He's definitely not a playable character, since he appears in the background of the animal crossing stage.

thats very fake as u can tell that some of those charcters are from the video, the site, their own game etc.
