What is the difference?

I know the side b spin dash jumps up alittle bit and is good for combo starters, like side b into upair or neutral etc.

THe down b seems to be faster and more useable for speed and combos, but side b seems like the go to for combos.

Can anyone clarify? Thanks : )

Spin Dash(Side b) has 1 frame of invincibility and strikes straight into the ground. So its not ideal for recovering if you're far from the stage. The move itself is single hit.

Spin Dash Charge(Down b) Is multi hit. It descends slower than spin dash and moves more horizontally. Better for recovering from distances.

There is a Sonic Moveset sticky thread for the basics of those moves. There's also a continuous discussion on followup and combos on Sonic moves there.

We will never see the end of "Differences between Down-B and Side-B" threads.
