The D-Pad's Smash Tourny! New Braunfels, mid SA/Austin (late notice)

Smash tourny going down for any of you locals in the Austin/San Antonio area, located in New Braunfels, held by the D-Pad at their new (and awesome) location.

Held on Aug 11th, 3:00 (yes, that is tomorrow)

Hey, it's AJ. Why, I still remember when The_Cleric was just some random n00b who showed up randomly in the basement of a local dorm and just happened to walk into a room containing fastliketree, Xelic, Smiles, Mr.C, and Galt, and just happened to have some fliers advertising a Smash tournament. He's still a random n00b, only now he walks into that room on purpose. Somehow, AJ, I'll make a man out of you.

I hope the next (bigger) one will be around the first week of September. We'll catch Jordan in a pincer attack and force him into going. And while you're at it, have a bite of my poison apple, so I can be fairest in the land.

woohoo! Thanks to those who came! Pretty decent turnout for a last minute get together of about 24 people. First went to Xelic and second place to Smiles!

I was in that room too...gosh you forgot about me...I was the one trying to hide that tournament from everyone...and probably would have a wii right now if it weren't for cleric randomly walking into the room we were smashing in...sigh...

but anyways thanks for the tournament!!! It was awesome

Anyway, deuterium-props to Forkgirl and AJ (aka The_Cleric) for taking 3rd and 4th, respectively. That means 3 of the top 4 players in the tournament play Sheik as at least a secondary; when was the last time that happened? Next time, I'll come take all of your monies, no mercy even for Smiles because I know his weakness and it rhymes with Willa Nafers.

hey guys this is Tony one of the owners of D-Pad, and i wanted to thank everyone who came out! (26 people.)
Everyone did great and I had a great time tring to run the thing.
I dont know if im posting this on the wrong thread, but I wanted to address the "Texas is Tired of small tourneys" what could we do to try and fix that( I hope this isnt a dumb question to ask, I kinda just brushed
over the entire thread). I want to have great tournament, that will bring a great compition and tons of fun!
I think we have a big enough place now and we are right in the middle of San Antonio and Austin. So, I would love it if I could get some great feedback from you guys.

Wut. In the draw, I lost to forkgirl, then she played smiles. That would make me 4th. Theres no way shoey would beat me, so I can't let that stand -.-

Also, about 24 people showed up I believe? Decent turnout for a last minute tourny. Hopefully the next one will be all the better.

no, after i played you, i played carlie, then Daniel...THEN smiles...
for sure. you were my first match in the loser's bracket....and then i played carlie...and daniel was hoping carlie would win so he could play her instead of me....but i won, then played daniel. I BARELY beat daniel, then BARELY lost to smiles.
daniel got 4th...
carlie and the last guy daniel beat tied for 5th. I'm positive.

met caveman today....he made me not want to play smash anymore.....cool guy. I am not very good at smash but I do like to play, and if possible i would love for most of the people who post on these boards to stop by and play some time. My business partner and I love to play the game and we like to play people that are good.(hes better than I am). So if anyones ever in new braunfels stop by the D-Pad we are always up for a butt-kicking. :D
