The claim that Meta Knight is the only balancing issue

Can someone explain this claim to me? There are people claiming that Brawl was ultimately more balanced than Melee. But this is heavily YMMV due to varying definitions of "balance" (as at least Melee has six commonly used characters in competitive play and even then more than half the cast has dedicated mains trying to constantly finding new depths to characters).

Your last part is kind of true for even brawl, but there is still some issues on both ends.

People say Melee is unbalanced because spacies are pretty much everywhere without any real counter without joining the crowd or playing Marth on FD.

The unbalance in Brawl is a lot on Metaknight, Ice Climbers and the few characters with dumb chain grabs, kind of like sheik rubbing the salt in the wounds in melee.

Melee has a group at the top around 6-8, then falls off a cliff with balance.

Brawl has MK at the top, then a cliff, then slowly gradually goes down.

What about the incredibly campy characters like Olimar, Snake, and Diddy?

Though to be fair, at least Melee Fox can be reliably beaten by more than just a ditto match even at high skill levels if you know what you are doing. Meta Knight has no such mercy in Brawl. :p

other than meta knight i do not find any imbalance and prefer 27 characters over him anyways the great divide in brawl occurs only once and i think there will be no mains of the bottom 21 in melee except for me within a few years basically in brawl there are no sub par characters whereas in melee there are few people who choose their low tier faves prefering top 5 characters for tournament use the great divide is a term for the massive tier gap between the top 5 and the bottom 21 and where meta knight only has 19 of every 100 players using him in brawl fox has 56 in 100 in melee and falco having 34 percent maining him i think the great divide is not nearly as deep in brawl as it is in melee

Oli Diddy and Snake are not unbalanced, and Diddy and Snake are not 'incredibly campy'

'Incredibly campy' characters would consist of Oli and Toon Link. Both Diddy and Snake have seen the most success from players who aren't campy (ADHD and Ally respectively). Falco, MK and ICs can also be fairly campy but it depends on the MU and the playstyle of the player, really.
- eg DEHF is a fair bit campier than Bloodcross, who's pretty aggressive. But even DEHF doesn't rely solely on lasers, as you have to use Falco's amazing CQC to succeed (which Larry does)
- ZeRo and M2K are by far the campiest MK players; the japanese MKs and Nairo are all very aggressive
- NAKAT's by far the campiest ICs player; 9B Vinnie and ESAM are much more aggressive

Oli's very very good but he gets hard countered by ICs, solidly beaten by MK, and also goes even with/arguably loses to quite a few characters (Diddy, Marth, Falco, Wario, Peach, TL). He doesn't really shut out any relevant characters except for Pikachu, arguably ZSS, and (depending on your definition of 'relevant') Lucario, DDD, and maybe some others.
Diddy's like Oli in that he's very good but he doesn't have any hard counters, but also doesn't really shut out any relevant characters. He goes close to even with MK, ICs, Oli, Marth, Falco, Snake, ZSS, Wario, Peach, and doesn't really shut out any relevant characters other than Pikachu, Fox, Wolf, and DDD.
Snake gets shut out by Olimar and Pikachu, loses to MK and ICs, and goes about even with Marth, Falco, ZSS, DDD, and maybe Fox. He also doesn't solidly beat any relevant chars outside of Peach, and only arguably wins against Diddy
