THE Character List

I thought I'd write up a character list based on what we know, rather than who we like.
The first section is confirmed veterans, follow by confimed newcomers, followed by unconfirmed veterans that aren't Dr. Mario, Pichu and Roy for obvious reasons.
The final section are the characters you can find in the Sakurai's Poll thread with three or more requests. This comes to 36 characters in total.

I don't think all the characters listed here will make it into Brawl, and there's still more 3rd party characters to consider, but considering what we know, this is the closest we can get to the true roster.

I really doubt we're only going to get one Fire Emblem rep since 64 was supposed to have one, and melee had two, as well as a stage that didn't make it due to development time. We're probably going to get a second rep. I'm looking at Macaiah as Ike's ally, or Black Knight as Ike's enemy.

I swear, just because they're at the top of the poll doesn't mean they'll make it in. Not attacking you susu_atari because I know you stated not all of them will make it.

You have to look at the Melee polls, if I remember right not all of the top characters on the list made it, but some did that where lower then them.

To say the least, Sakurai does what he pleases. Sometimes that's pleasing others, and other times it's finding unique characters to create awesome movesets with. (like the Ice Climbers.)

Takamaru and Geno are two of the characters I'm not sure about. I don't really think they'll get in. But, as I said before, this list isn't based on my opinions. A lot of people don't think the Ice Climbers are coming back, and that includes me, but they were in Melee, and they weren't clones. The only clones I've left in are Falco and Ganondorf, because they're important to their respective games, and probably worth a new moveset.

Well at least this list is based off some scientific basis, I'm sick of character prediction threads with 4-5 third party characters and a bunch off unnecesary character eliminations for the persons on character choice.

Fire emblem does deserve at least another character because the game not only has promise but a fanbase already. i'd like a vixen from the franchise.

Well I know many of the main characters wield swords but many other characacters have other things like magic, dragons, maces, staffs, bow and arrows, knives, along with various other weapons. i myself would like to see a thief status character appear in smash

I'm not so sure about Mr. Game & Watch with the way Wario looks. No, this has nothing to do with the WarioWare stage. Just that he has choppy movements as well. Not enough information to be sure, though.

Oh, heck no! It's all about swords! That's why the logo is a sword since that's what every game is about. x sword wielder's family/home is destroyed by y sword wielder, so x sword wielder is excorted to safety by z sword wielder joins up with a-r sword wielders who ultimately defeat y sword wielder!

Hopefully we'll probably see Macaiah to represent the magic side of Fire Emblem.

Heh. I've been with the series since before it revealed to the rest of the world and I can easily admit swords are the most prominant, followed by spears (usually the enemy) and axes. At least if they put in that evil tin can known as Black Knight, he could use a spear as a secondary to make him more diverse.

I don't think Nintendo would pass up on a market opportunity. I mean, they were going to make Fire Emblem characters exclusive to Japan but they didn't. Now they're making millions from all over the world! ;D
They could translate a Virtual Console of Mystery of Murasame Castle to be released a month after Brawl's debut and it'd rake in a fair amount of Wii Points/Cash. That and if Takamaru is enough of a hit, we might finally see a sequel. ^.^

Agreed. Takamaru is a nice touch, but not all the most requested characters will get in. Erm, link's Uncle anyone?

Before joining this board, I've never even heard of Geno. From what I've gathered so far, he's a character in ONE Mario game eleven years ago and isn't even owned by Nintendo. Why does everyone want him to be in the game? There are a lot of other third party characters more worthy of being in the game.

So... take out one of the characters with the most votes, and add another 3rd party character to this list on a whim... yeah, because that wouldn't make this character list as worthless and uninformative as all the others, would it? I'm all for Sonic being in Brawl, but I'm not adding any third party characters to this list that haven't been announced. End of story.

And take out WW Link!? He has a unique style, and can have a unique moveset. Wind Waker is, in my opinion, one of the best Zelda games ever. Also, it's the same Link as in Phantom Hourglass, which is extremely popular in Japan at the moment. Are you insane?

Exactly why he won't be a character. He's an unimportant role in the Mario series and would just be wasting a character slot. Plus he can already be seen in the background of Yoshi's island, and that's best where he's kept.

Shy Guy will NOT make it. Shy Guy is generic, if at best Shy Guy will be an enemy in SubS, or an AT, or only a Sticker. Just like Birdo, Boo, Dry Bones, and all other Generic Mario Enemies. Pokemon Trainer... Does not count.
