Mr. Fox
AKA Shiro
As most of you know, Clash Tournaments released a Project M 3.0 Tier List not too long ago. They were wrong.
I knew immediately when I saw that Fox was still top tier that it had a great number of flaws. So, in response, my cousin and I decided to come up with a series of tests that would ultimately decide the unarguable best in the game.
Here's what we came up with:
The first and only test was the 1 stock Up B challenge.
Like all truly competitive players, we ONLY played on FD. I started by choosing Sonic, the bottom right character on the screen. My cousin began the testing with Wario, the polar opposite on the character selection screen. The loser would then choose the next character in line, leaving the losing character to claim its spot on the tier list. The first character to lose would obviously be the worst, and the last one standing would be top tier.
We soon realized that most Up B attacks have little to no kill potential, but, putting our faith in the perfect test we had come up with, we set the winning requirements to knock the opponent into 50% range.
Throughout this process, we ran into a fair amount of problems. First, my cousin Seth SD'd as Bowser, one of the characters that is said to have a powerful Up B OoS. But, because the data never lies, we took it as a sign that the internet isn't always correct.
R.O.B.'s Up B deals literally no damage, so he MUST be one of the worst characters for sure. A handful of others share this problem.
Olimar cheated during his match against Yoshi, forfeiting his participation and claiming a lower score than he would have liked. Despite all the hate regarding Yoshi's recovery, his Up B is very underrated, and was able to reach all the way to lower mid tier.
After testing Fox's Up B, we determined that Falco's must not be too different, so we skipped him and placed him directly above the aforementioned.
At this point, Roy was absolutely crushing the opposition, especially due to my incredible reads against Seth. Clearly Roy has untapped tech chasing potential with that move.
The first epic battle was a swordsman duel between Link and Roy. Despite everyone's complaints about Link's Up B being OP, he was only able to tack on around 15% before losing to Roy's fiery vengeance.
Surprisingly, Toon Link was able to oust the champion, rather than his older self. Bottom tier, yeah right. He then proceeded to defeat Marth and lose to Ike.
It's funny how Ike replaced Roy in Brawl, because that's exactly what he did in this test. After Roy's removal, Ike was doing rather well until Ganondorf hugged him into submission.
The next Up B hero was Kirby, who had the advantage of being able to mix his moves up where most characters couldn't. However, in an epic battle against Jigglypuff, the presumed worst at using Up B, he SD'd, giving Jigglypuff a spot in the high tiers.
Ness and Lucas were formidable opponents as well, but a tragic SD to ZSS by Lucas gave him second place rather than first.
Without further ado, we present the full and official Project M tier list.
