I was very curious on just how nerfed Samus' Charge Shot was in Brawl. I had to make sure that if I were to test this out, I would have to select a stage from Melee. The Temple would not work, since it is too large. Brinstar had a dangerous pool of acid that would rise every now and then. I did not want the character whom I was going to use to figure this out to be affected by any hazards. So, the stage I chose was Jungle Japes. Samus and Mario stood atop what looks to be like a parapet.

Anyway, I tested this out first in Melee. I got Mario up to 120% and blew him off the stage. So I reduced it by 10%. Mario did not fly off the stage. I pressed Start so that he'd fall into the river. I then increased his damage by 1%. He was now at 111%. I shot him, and he flew off. I tried it again, and he did not fly off. Then I tried it one more time, and he flew off. So, it varied. Once I did this, I turned off Melee and loaded up Brawl. I did the same thing. Mario was at 111%. I blew him off the stage, and the results came out the same way.

So, I ask, In what regard is Samus' Charge Shot nerfed? It is apparent that the percentile is not altered. It seems that the knock-back would be the problem. But from this test, is Samus' Charge Shot really nerfed?

This is interesting because what might be the case is that the STAGES are just bigger. Either way though, I get kills using it so as far as Im concerned, it does what it is supposed to do.

It's much easier to DI it in brawl. Just look at the extra frames you get to Smash DI. When you get hit by a fully charged shot, the person who gets hit stays in place for a while. During that moment you can smash the control stick in any direction to move in that direction. That's just one part of the charge shot that's weakened.

...also, I dislike the smaller hitbox of the fully charged shot. :(

Dryn massive kudos to you man. When I was reading I was like "this is such a great idea I can't wait for the results." I was very pleased with the results.

If those two things are the issue for Samus' Charge Shot, then it does not matter to me. My only concern was if the Charge Shot had been weakened in another way, such as Captain Falcon's f-air.

Try this. Z air, then follow it up with a charged shot. I don't know if it's my opponents being stupid but I get it off every time.

It's nerfed in that a full charge shot will do more knockback to a 0% foe in Melee than Brawl. I think. Sorry if I'm wrong.

Oh yeah, and the smaller hitbox.

I can see that being a very tricky string to block, but I think a spot dodge or perfect shield will do it.

If you get them in the air and they hit the ground but can't tech, maybe it's a true combo.

What does training mode say?

And of course, this is a cinch online.
More than any of my other characters, I think Wifi is wrecking my Samus skills (little I have). I'll have to put her on hold until some miracle brings me some regular offline play...

No; in Melee and Brawl, Samus' uncharged Charge Shot does 3%. With it fully charged, both do 25% damage. However, I have seen the Charge Shot do 26% damage in Brawl. Much of Samus' attacks in Brawl are mostly equivalent. The Samus of Brawl outweighs the Samus of Melee regarding damage percent, even ever so slightly.
