It's been quite a year for Smash 64 Discussion. We've seen lots of tournament threads, lots of Apex discussion, and more spam than any subforum deserves. In Dicatatordude fashion, I've taken it upon myself without community input to bestow awards in the following categories to those who deserve them the most:
Framemaster of the year: (3 way tie)
Sangoku
mixa
Madao
These three have been the foremost authority on frame data for all of 2013. If anyone had any questions over the course of the year concerning technical data, these three were always there to answer them. Truly if there's ever been framemasters for SSB64, it's Sangoku, mixa, and Madao. Thanks guys for the work you've done and questions you've answered.
Mediocre Poster of the Year:
asianaussie
I mean, yeah, aa was here posting regularly, but how many of his posts were quality posts? I couldn't think of any. His posts were mainly "Remember back in 2009..." or "No one plays in Australia." As far as I'm aware, he kept his "naruto crap" talk to a minimum in the Social Thread which is a plus, but the lack of a bad thing isn't necessarily a good thing. He wasn't nearly a terrible poster though, just perfectly mediocre. Congrats, aa!
Angriest Poster of the Year:
cobr_evolution
Those flowing locks and lovely ladies couldn't cool down this Samus mains temper throughout 2013. However long it's been since Hyrule was banned and my Fox ire has been in full swing, cobr was there to always remind me how bad Samus is, and he's been doing it consistently for all of 2013 (even with impressive wins over greginator, valoem, A$, weedwack, and most of the tristate area). Even in my RR pools discussions on the Apex board, cobr was far and wide the angriest person in the thread (and rightfully so). cobr, I hope you don't get angry when I say jousuke is my favorite Samus, but you're right up there at number two.
Funniest Poster of the Year:
Olikus
Olikus proves that there truly is a fine line between genius and insanity. Some of the things this Norwegian has said have, at times, been completely incoherent. It's a wonder we can even communicate with him at all. However, the vast majority of what he says is top-tier comedy. There's never been a thread in which Olikus posted where I haven't left smiling and satisfied.
Punniest Poster of the Year:
Korobeniki
Enough said.
Best Poster of the Year:
Sangoku
Not only is Sangoku the 2013 Framemaster, but he's just a quality poster all around. From humorously abusing his mod powers to keeping the Forums safe from spam to helping out in the question thread all the time to making jokes about being lost in translation, he truly is the best poster of 2013. Thank you, Sangoku.
Worst Poster of the Year (and in this case possibly of all time):
KeroKeroppi
I just...there are no words to describe just how bad KeroKeroppi's posts are. I've met the guy. He's a great guy in real life. However, when you get that man in front of a computer and he goes to the Smash 64 Discussion, you'll find one of three things:
1. Animal pictures
2. Spam threads about tier lists that have nothing to do with Smash (ex. tier lists for Animals)
3. More animal pictures
The common thing found in all three cases is that there's nothing funny about his posts and there's nothing informative. They are just there, and they are bad. Henceforth, this award will be known as the KeroKeroppi Award. He is no longer eligible after this year though, because I've ignored him on smashboards meaning I can't see his posts. They are just that bad.
And now for the most prestigious award that can possibly be received:
Supreme Overlord Nintendude Award:
Nintendude
From banning Hyrule (terrible stage) to supporting bracket pools (the BEST format possible for a 128-man tourney), Nintendude has been the authority on the 64 scene in 2013 (and I hope he always will be). Nintendude doesn't need to listen to us peasants who vote in silly polls on smashboards. He knows what is best. Nintendude please give us 4 stock matches (or any number of stocks you want). We'll be fine with whatever you choose. Thank you, Nintendude, for being the shepherd of the 64 flock. You will guide us with your infinite wisdom in the years to come.
worst character of the year:
obviously fox. come on, you knew it was coming.
