Just so you know, MSU is having a smash tournament on the 29th (brawl and melee). I'll be making the thread in a minute, but I figured I'd drop that info off sooner rather than later.

Jack said he'd probably be coming.

Heh, more mid tennessee people? Jesus there's getting to be a ton of us now. A lot of people in the area have just started getting competitive, there are a few in Nashville you can try talking to (try PMing Samba if you want as he's the most active on the forums) Then there's me KO, and Alex over in murfreesboro who are available often (me and KO are currently the best in TN outside of memphis, which has a relatively large community of it's own) There's also Mr. Pickle in westmoreland or some place in the middle of nowhere, and then weslo and his friends + a few other in east TN, if you feel the desire of going that far away.


Good news for you though, on the 29th of this month (two saturdays away) there's going to be a melee tournament in antioch, at the hickory hollow mall at the game galaxy arcade. There's also third strike, and blazblue if you're interested in other fighting games and stuff, but there will also be all of us melee players that I just spoke about (except memphis), so it'll be a perfect chance for you to come meet everyone. Even better is that everyone entering melee gets their venue fee waived, so there's really no reason not to come and enter.

Word. I'll come and check it out, although I'm nowhere near being able to put up a good fight. I'm mainly just looking for some guys to play with on the regular. None of my friends give a **** about advanced techniques and whatnot.

To be honest there is no melee power ranking because none of the upper level melee players want one. Iori, BunBun, IHaveSpaceBalls, etc... Have all expressed to me that this type of thing has only caused problems in the past.

The main problem with power rankings is that they tend to drive the lower level people but provide no positive influence on the upper and middle level players. They tend to have everything to lose and nothing to gain, plus the melee community (at least in Memphis) is extremely community based. While we love competition, we love playing smash together as pals more.

As the main Melee TO in Memphis these are the reasons I've never put a power ranking together. :D

On a side note we have a Brawl and Melee tournament on November 26. I've been talking to the murphreesboro, Memphis, Arkansas, Alabama, and Mississippi guys to get them out here for an awesome tri-state area tournament. Here's the link:http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=312884
