its pretty good but footstooling isnt always the easiest thing to pull off in a fight. most good players know how to cover their laggy moves so they arent punished as much

Yep, it's possible to tech out of the dair, but the timing would take a while to get used to. Even if they do tech, it's still a free 4 hit dair.

This could be used for some mindgames, as generally you don't see Lucas short hopping directly over someone (sometimes we short hop into them for nair, but not really over them).

wrong, people just haven't realized its potential yet. :bee:
um im sorry but ill have to say you are wrong here....footstooling is extremely tough to pull off against people who are actually GOOD at the game....I'm sorry but this technique shouldnt be used as it isnt that trustworthy and could easily be punished

Chaos did you watch the video? It's a technique to punish your opponents lag with a footstool and follow up with a *gasp* COMBO!!!!. Seriously, how the heck does how good your opponent has to do with pulling it off? It may be harder to pull it off on them, but once its started its not gonna be stopped. With practice you could pull this off in a real match. How is it not trust worthy? If you practice enough and are technical enough to pull it off, this isnt a problem. Please, explain yourself. ^_^

can't really think of any situations where you would have to footstool dair a standing opponent that you couldn't have just full hop dair'ed.

yes, but footstooling can punish a little amount of lag, while other moves can only punish if there is alot of lag.
This is based on the flawed assumptions that: 1. a footstool activates faster than a Dair by any significant amount. and 2. you are for some reason close enough to get a footstool off in the "small" time you have, but not close enough to dair.

both assumptions are wrong in any reasonable circumstance.

I thought of a possibility but it's really situational. I could see it being useful if you're in the air (I'm thinking that you jumped an attack like a low jab, a grab or a low attack like Falco's d-smash) and you see the opponents in lag. You can go for the footstool there slightly faster than if you were to fastfall and go for a full hop dair. Problem is that if you miss the footstool for whatever reason, you are now high in the air with no double jump.

Foot Stools hit box is pretty big, you'd have to be really bad at it to miss lol
