Teching the Dair

My friend plays falco all the time and I am constantly getting into the shine combo. Normally I get shined, Dair'ed, and shined again before I can DI out.

My question is if I hold toward the stage and over slight while holding the block button when he dair's me, would I tech roll on the floor or can I not tech the dair like that?

it depends on how fast your friend does it. i tech falco's dairs all the time (mostly neutral techs so i get owned anyway) so yeah its possible. but if hes building the colloseum out of you then sometimes right as you hit the ground your in this weird floppy animation and you cant tech.

btw building the colloseum is like saying pillar but more humorous because you have to add humor when getting pillar'ed or your going to throw the controller.

it matters what char you are. tell us and we will respond. for example, you cannot tech falco's dair with fox until the 60's or so

sorry if this has no relevance to the conversation but I just wanted to get clarification that Pillaring is dirrectly linked to shield pressure and not when being combo'd and shine combe is shine to dair spike to shine and so on or is pillaring another way of saying shine combo, I believe my original understnding of the 2 was correct but I see it used both ways and I would like to make sure I myself in correct in using it

and Ness can bea really good character if you play him, even if not considered a hard opponent he can still have some cool/flashy/powerful moves if used correctly

ness cant get shine comboed more than a shine and a bair, do you not understand. hold left and right to di and keep on trying to jump for a start

well maybe i am thinking of pillar, cause he shines me, full jump (or even double), dair, shine, etc... normally i di out of the 2nd shine, but if i could get the timing down to tech roll the dair that would be alot better

no that is not pillar

you can interupt the combo you know, with di or simply out prioritizing the dair with nair, or atleast attempt

ahh shine combos, gods way of telling falco users "i love you"

there is nothing you can do, shine combos will haunt you forever.
you could prevent shine combos; its kinda like abstinence, you're alive but not having any fun.

Falco's Dair starts to become techable at 35% for all characters, which is why he has the 0-40% combo on fox (shine>shine>dair>shine>dair), but the last dair is techable. Also note that for edgeteching, you must also be above 35%. This is because the dair doesn't actually make you tumble until 35% (The same is true for marth's Dair).

I'm pretty sure its character based, not a set 35%. Alas its around 35-40% for most characters.

Ok, it's 35%-36% w/ fox & falco, i've never really payed attention to it too much w/ falcon, marth, other chars i play.
