So my question isn't so much about tech chasing as it is about following up a missed tech.

When you miss an aerial tech chase, what do you guys do to keep the pressure on? I've found that when I miss a tech chase, it really ****s me up, and I don't like that, so I'm trying to figure out what to do.

You really can't do anything

You gotta pick one and hope for the best
Basically it's all mindgames

Realistically
You have reset this game to neutral
Running back in with like a nair or something will sometimes catch people
But realistically they're going to do something like bair or something else that will stuff your approach
BUT sometimes they're going to be raring at the bit [pardon the pun] to get back in there and hit your approach

So like Strong Bad said
DDing in a wide arc can make them think you're running into to approach
But then back off and come back in with a grab/dair/knee/whatever

So
That's pretty much all I have to say on the topic atm

The important thing is to not do the same thing every time. As much as I would like the concept of "doing the best thing in every situation" that some people bring up and have it work, that's just about the easiest way of getting read and becoming predictable. Dash Dance is your safest bet but mix in shffl nairs/dairs/even bairs because theory isn't everything. What will actually work depends on your opponent's skill level and what you did last time.

im not really sure of your question, are you talking about following up when they do a no-tech, or when you 'mess up' a tech chase?

if scenario #1, then its a lot easier then most would think to follow up

scenario #2 depends if they DI-ed your throw, how close you are after you miss your punish, etc...

Yeah I'm assuming scenario 2
Like for example

Dthrow->knee their in place tech
But they did a tech roll instead

How do you reclaim the advantage?

That is correct.
Everytime I miss a tech chase, I feel like I can't just let them regain control of the stage, but I'm not sure what to do. Should I dd and try and get them into shield, go straight for a grab, nair, etc.

Be really fast and run up to them and nair. This works most often when you dthrow them kinda near the edge and guess the techroll towards you. If they don't techroll towards you they're still kinda trapped near the edge and you can pressure them with your long falcon legs, or dd and bait something.

If it's on completely open ground you probably shouldn't be guessing too much with your techchases unless you have a good read

there is no 1 answer to all, it's pretty much read based

n-airing after someone is great and all but its countered by just simply up-tilting but its great if they shield or spot dodge. sometimes it will simply catch them if they don't expect it/ suck

at the same time if they snap up-tilt after a tech you can just wait for the up-tilt and punish with knee(spaced well) or grab

if they flip out they migt jump out of shield, spot dodge, roll

i prefer waiting to see what they do and from that i'll get reads

Yeah I was trying to imply that with my original post but I guess when I edited it didn't say that anymore >__>

the part where I said "or dd and bait something"

what I mean is that nair is a good default to continue pressure if they don't do something explicitly to beat it like roll or utilt, and if they do you should bait those and punish. of course it all depends on reads etc. The point I guess is that if you're fast out of your missed techchase you can get close enough to make them feel pressured just from you running at them and the potential for you to do something
