I know many of you are thinking of the character, but allow me to explain.

When Team mode was announced, along with the explanation of how it would work, I immediately thought of kirby 3 and kirby superstar both for the snes [[great games]] which had allowed for the second player to actually make a difference in gameplay while still considering their wellbeing, by originally implementing the concepts we see in team SE now.

After recently reading a blog entitled defining priority, making a referencing to speculation of the SE to sonic 2's control of tails which was... trivial

looking at just a few of the SE gameplay samples, i can already see that the sora team's time as hal labs. has had a great effect, even if the game is looking a little like kirby awesome

you're thoughts??

i apologize if this thread exist already

Before anyone says anything about Kingdom Hearts, Sora LTD. is Sakurai's company.

When I first saw it, it did remind me of the older Sonic games, as my little brother always liked to play on the second slot. Though, to me, it seems just like Sonic. What's trivial?

Big, spooky castle in eastern europe.
As far as I can tell, the second player in SSE would be pretty **** similar to the way Tails operated in Sonic 2. And, given a few updates like the ability to actually die and maybe a few others, I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work.

sometimes in sonic 2 if you controlled tails, you could get him killed simply by walking into too many obstacles or if you simply relinquished control while he was off screen he would stand around almost forever

in the kirby games a second player could control a helper
in kirby 3 it was just the bloo ball you saw in the one smash trophy he's simply swallow everyone

but in kirby superstar you could take any of your powers and turn it into your own personal attributed body gaurd wats more you could use him for multiple hyper jumps [not puffs] if he got too far off screen a simple buttong press would reel him back in

on top of that he would effectively kill the enemies as instead of simply following you around on your backside

one of the best examples is wheelie when kirby absorbs him he turns into a high speed wheel similar to jiggly's rollout only slight more control--if you turned this power into a seperate helper its basically one wheel with a saddle and if you hop on top

WHEELIE RIDER imagine kirby on a motored unicycle of death--this was actually mandatorilly awesome at the end of revenge of metaknight check it out

Sora LTD is not HAL Labs. It's completely unrelated besides Sakurai.

As far as I'm concerned, the closer they can get to Superstar's co-op, the better. Seriously, that was so fun to play with someone else.

no... really??

Are you saying the layout and feel of the subsapce doesn't seem remotely familiar to any Kirby game??
And yes we all know Sora LTD. is not HAL Labs... thats why its called Sora LTD.... try to keep up--and are you just assuming sakurai has never worked on a Kirby game? It seems to me that'd be a pretty hard thing to do; NOT work on your company's flagship series.

Tails can't die in Sonic 2. He always comes flying back.
sorta slowly though--its a matter of opinion but personally i think the return in superstar is better; it's the teleport they're implementing in brawl

What are you talking about? Of course he knows that Sakurai worked on Kirby games. You said "the sora team's time as hal labs...," but Sora never was HAL Lab. Yes, Sakurai was part of HAL, and is now a part of Sora, but otherwise the two companies are unrelated. Also, while we're at it, Sora also has nothing to do with Brawl. The development team working on Brawl does not have a name. Sakurai created a company called Sora, but they are not involved in the development of the game; only Sakurai is, as far as we know.

:ohwell: I'm saying that your "i can already see that the sora team's time as hal labs. has had a great effect," had no basis in reality. Yes, there are design similarities to Kirby Super Star and they're probably a result of Sakurai's influence, not the dev team.

time as hal-time at hal* my typo

it was my understanding that some of the other members of Sora were also hired F ROM HAL
my mistake for reading about Clover Studios and Capcom == seeds

but logic suggests.... beh i didn't come here to discuss 'development'

the point is that the director of the first and designer of the second is back on the third and he definetly had an influence on how the final look and feel on those and he will on this one--are you suggesting that this is in no way relative to his experience with the kirby franchise... i need to stop now and get back to topic

I believe the word we are looking for is Footstool Jumps :D

The SSE mode started to resemble a lot like Kirby Super Star (which is one of my most favorite SNES games of all time :chuckle:) after the Co-op Mode update. I think it's a great idea to implement a 2 player mode for a mainly 1 player game.

To end all this arguing.

Sakurai left HAL Labs to pursue other interests. Yes, he brought some members of HAL with him to his new company, but many of the members of HAL still work for HAL.

Sakurai started Sora LTD. which has been working on this game with the help of another production company that I don't think was ever revealed (Unless I missed this sometime, I remember Sakurai repeatedly saying the other production company is a secret in his old journal he used to have up pre-dojo).
