Could it be?

An antagonist to the Pokemon Trainer?

I believe it is a possibility, and I have not heard mention of it yet.

Team Rocket (or an evil crime organization just like it) are in every pokemon game.

I am not familiar with many pokemon after the first 151, but my guess would be Rattata/Raticate, Ekans/Arbok, Meowth/Persian, Koffing/Weezing (the most unlikely), and whatever pokes they may have used in newer games.

Does anyone agree with me or have any comments about my predicition (aside from "You are wrong and stupid")?

It would be fun of Jesee and James were part of Brawl, but since Ash did not made it but the generic PKMN trainer, that looks doubtful. And I doubt we will see some TR grunts or from any other team (Aqua, Magma) as ATs.

Worst IDEA ever. they don't even appear in the games. They originated in the Anime, instant no. Giovanny on the other hand...

Actually Jesee and James appear on Pokemon Yellow, as well Pokemon Puzzle League for N64.

But they originated in the Anime, Sakurai said characters had to originate in Games to appear in the game, besides it's not like PT is Ash...

The games came b4 the anime, team rocket was formed then so technically Jesse and James were around even if they did not have their own roles we saw yet.

I think that makes sense, lulz.

I didn't say Jesse and James...

I said a Team Rocket trainer. My reference to the show was jsut a joke.

Team Rocket started in the game. I remember in Red/Blue they hijacked a casino and Silph Co.

Giovani would be a good idea. If not Giovaini or Team Rocket, then maybe your Rival. You remember the dude who was named Gary in the show but basically was a jerk who picked the pokemon that was strongest against yours?

They could put him in and I don't think he would be considered a clone character if he had different pokes with different moves.

It's a cartoon, anime is not a real word in english. Jesse and James appeared in Pokemon Yellow on the gameboy colour and were in Pokemon Puzzle league for the Nintendo 64. It is also spelt Giovanni.

I think this would be a great idea, Team Rocket is by far the most memorable evil team. Aqua, Magma and Galactic wish they were as awsome as Team Rocket.

Giovanni as a boss would be interesting. He'd use Rhyhorn, Persian, and some mystery Pokemon...

As soon as I saw PKMN Trainer, I instantly thought of a counter part.

RCKT Trainer

I think a Team Rocket member would make a great assist trophy. There arent many assist trophy candidates from pokemon.

But I cant see a Team Rocket PC.

They would make nice assist trophy. Other than that, no, because there are a multitude of other characters far more deserving of a spot in Brawl's roster.

EDIT: Beaten to the punch.

I support this idea. But I also think Rival trainer, ( the guy that picks the pokemon yours is weak to in the game) would be a cool idea as well.

So what would he use?
Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard?

(also Team Rocket may be fairly iconic, but their pokemon, who you would be playing as arent. With the exception of Meowth, but he was deconfirmed)

I would like him to have a different set of pokemon perhaps the ones he uses in the games?

Other than of course the starter which varies on which pokemon you pick.

I think, it would be pretty cool you get more pokemon without taking up 5-6 character slots

I actually like this idea =)
Maybe Giovanni with Persian, Rhydon, and.... whoever?
Hell, throw Mewtwo in his arsenal!
We already know Sakurai has allowed the anime to infulence Smash, so why not give Giovanni that style and Mewtwo?

Not to sound like a weaboo, but it kinda is. I can't say for sure it's been officialized (although I wouldn't doubt it tbh, a lot of terms like this usually get officialized), but it's pretty much established by the masses as a term for Japanese cartoons (came up around the 80's), even though it started in the otaku culture. At least in America, dunno about the country you live in.

Australia, and in real English anime is not a word. It is about as real as ooobajoobagoo.

Then why does it exist in multiple dictionaries and dictionary.com?

And sorry to say, I looked it up, and ooobajoobagoo can't be a word as it's hardly used and doesn't have a definition. The word "anime" is a different case, although in reality you could still call any Japanese animation a cartoon and it be correct.

Anime is not an english word, it's a japanese word. You don't go around using foreign words in a conversation with an English speaking person and try and pass them off as normal, it is incorrect not different, incorrect. Just like if you went over to Japan saying Cartoon would be incorrect and you would refer to all cartoons as "anime".

It was originally a Japanese word (and still is, although it was originally just animation in Japan, but shortened to anime in the 70's) that became an English word, bro. That's a simple fact. Matter of fact, most English words are originally words from different languages, a lot being changed but I see quite a bit keeping their original spelling. It's really nothing new to be honest, and you're going to have to accept that even though you're anti-Japan.

All languages are like that, especially Japanese, mind you, who borrow a lot of English words (and no, I'm not talking about Engrish where they try to speak English but fail at it, I'm talking about official Japanese words that were originally English, like donut). French, Spanish, German, Italian, etc. does it too.

If it were the rival it wouldnt jsut have different evolutionary states of pokemon trainer like wartortle, venusaur and charmander. That would be stupid. He would have to have some random pokes. Most likely from newer games because unlike me, I'm sure the people making smash are aware that the series extended beyond red and blue. It could be possible to have a pokemon trainer for like silver and gold with their starting pokemon or one from ruby and sapphire with their starting pokemon. Who is to say? I don't know anything about the newer pokemon or anything, all I know is that ther ewas no good pokemon in Melee, so I hope there is in Brawl. It's jsut fun to beat your friends with a pokemon.

Off topic but yeah, I agree. Numerous words and phrases have become common in english language, and while technically not being english, have been adopted into the english language. Some examples of this are laissez-faire, the idea that a government should not interfere with the economy; avant-garde, which means pushing the boundaries of what is accepted as a norm; gazoontite (gesundheit in German), which means health, and is commonly used in America when someone sneezes.

The first two examples are French, and the last one is German. There are doznes more I'm sure, but those are jsut three I use in everyday speech (laissez-faire in economics class and I'm sure never again after that). Now that I'm sure this is all quite settled, please try to stick to the topic.

And sorry if I didn't serach the forums an old Team Rocket thread I will do that from now on.

Does anyone have any good pokemon trainer-esque ideas? Maybe some bosses in Subspace Emissary, or alternate costumes?

What if Pokemon trainer's alternate costumes were like Giovanni, your Rival, and then maybe Brock or something random (no brock is not jsut from the anime he was actually in the games)?
