Regardless, I do enjoy blowing up targets and blocks and it's pretty strategical with the amount of % you need to put on the bomb or else it'll fly too far, or it won't fly at all.
...also don't smash the bomb at the last second, it'll blow your face up

I suck at it, but it's fun. Sitting at 331280 with DK.
It's really hard to formulate a reliable strategy for each character. I've managed to get a perfect with Wario and G&W in a single bomb before, but have never to been able to replicate it, even with a replay video for reference.
Apparently, the bomb gets easier to launch the lower its timer gets, and its position on the platform drastically affects its trajectory, as well. Having your timing off by a few fractions of a second or the bomb a few pixels too far to the left/right can make the difference between a perfect or failing to break even half of the targets.

My best score was made with Greninja. Ironically, I didn't get all the red targets with it, which was something that I actually accomplished with Rosalina, Toon Link, and Ganondorf.

I got a score of like 270000 with Rosalina & Luma and I did manage to break all the red targets with her and Charizard. I can say I'm very satisfied with the result. 
Sometimes when I look at the challenge board and I see the one that says "Achieve a certain score in Target Blast" i think that it says Target Smash and I get excited and look for Target Smash then I remember and I am sad.
