It might have been a precautionary measure though, if they were afraid of their leaders being killed or arrested.
The Taliban's definition of victory seems to be to force the U.S. to withdraw troops before the self-imposed deadline. I wonder what that's like, to fight an enemy that's already planning to leave. What is a "victory"?
