I can say that the collective IQ of the Smash World Forums took a nosedive today.

You guys were going crazy over that "Real men use items" thing.

Seriously. It's a joke.

Get over it.

And today's crappy update?

Maybe Sakurai intended to piss us off, maybe he didn't. Who cares. It's one crappy update. We've gotten them before. I didn't see anyone go off yelling as much as this one when the Widescreen update came.

Yeah, it's December 3rd and all, but who the **** cares? Sakurai has proven time and again that as far as updates go, numbers and dates mean nothing to him.

And stop *****ing "I could've been playing Brawl right now". I know you could've been playing Brawl. The same goes for me. But remember how many glitches the demo had? Stop saying "I could've been playing Brawl." It's more accurate to say "I would've been playing a really glitchy Brawl."

You guys need to calm down and shut up. Even if you have calmed down already (you were going crazy last I checked before going to school), keep what I said in mind if stuff like this happens again.

No matter how much sense one puts in advice on forums (here or elsewhere on the internet) a majority are going to not use it, get offended and/or flame you.

Sad but true.

Just letting you know I support your words, thus the bump.

It just seems like todays update was worse than even the crud weve been getting scraped off the bottom of the barrel this month, almost like it was purposeful.

There's a reason that many interviews and director commentaries have a "The words expressed in this do not reflect the views of the developers or associated company" (or something to that effect) disclaimer.

I really didn't think the Dojo would need one :/

The IQ of the Brawl boards was generally low to begin with, this is just a more massive plumit for them. >_>

This post took the words right out of my mouth.

The problem is that people on these boards think that somehow the developers owe the community something. As if them making a great game wasn't good enough. (who cares when it's released as long as it's good quality when it happens)

If people didn't have such overinflated expectations then there wouldn't be as much complaining.

I've never, in my life, seen a forum more selfish and demanding than Smashboards.

I mean, really, you all brought this gigantic argument-fest upon yourself by somehow thinking that something EPIC would happen on the 3rd, because America (and America alone) wasn't going to get the game... and when today's update didn't fit in with your selfish desires, you just spat at the developers like they were trying to burn you with acid. That's not really fair, is it?

You guys have to understand that the development team are trying to please EVERYONE with this game and obviously have to make some really hard choices throughout the game's development. It doesn't help that they decided to reveal all the good non-secret stuff relatively early since the game was gonna be released soon, and then suddenly had a bit of a delay on thier hands... do I need to remind everyone that not every other game gets daily updates like these anyway?

The development team are only human. You guys should try being like that too, for once.

You, my friend, are teh 1337sauce. This is how i feel everyday when I check the discussion after the update and see minimal to no praise.

Also "this update sucked/was ghey/was crap/was boring" is not valid discussion but rather a waste of a post.

If you've nothing good to say; don't say anything.

Wahhh thanks a lot Sakurai!, you told us there would be the most amazing update today (or at least i'd like to believe you did in my head) now i'm never going to waste my time waiting for daily updates again!!. How does that feel? DOES IT BURN?!.

It seems the reaction here is the same as other smash bros forums. People need to stop being so spoilt and just deal with it, the development team doesn't owe you anything other than the game. If it gets delayed, life goes on and if that or a daily update (something you should be grateful to be getting) makes you cry then you probably should grow up. Yes we could have been playing brawl, but we're not and no amount of complaining will fix that now.

Oh and the widescreen update was epic.

You know, I would've liked a PAL release date.

What kind of glitches? I don't remember hearing anything about them.
Well, off the top of my head...

Characters get hit with a whopping 999% Damage Meter
Pikachu's Thunder hit's below platforms and the Electricity speeds down the solid middle of platforms.
Long Loading Times (RAnDom!)

Haha, you're not the only one... I'm from the UK so I'm currently a little curious as to the PAL release date as well. I can imagine it will take a while to get released over here since there's quite a bit of text to translate, and maybe some different voice acting as well. There's surely some reason why they haven't said anything about when it's out over here yet.

Mind you, I'll probably be just fine after the Japan release comes and every character/mode/whatever is revealed by the japanese obsessives. Call me mad, but I'm more curious about what's in this game than actually playing it!

Ever been on the Nsider Forums?

nayway, i wouldn't call Sakurai human, more like Superman.

I agree with this thread though, people just stop complaining, Brawl will be amazing one way or another, and the delay was the only way that Nintendo coud come up with to make Brawl amazing.

Right. *****ing about everyone else *****ing stops all the *****ing. I'm glad this thread brought that to everyone's attention.

Honestly, you're not helping. I wasn't here when the update happened, so I don't know what kind of chaos this forum may or may not have been thrown into, but I can say I'm tired of seeing THIS kind of thread. You know. The "I'm so much more mature than you" kind. The kind in which someone decides to create a whole thread dedicated to explaining why the rest of the forum is dumber/less mature/inferior to the topic creator. Preaching. Teaching "lessons" that they have no place "teaching".

Although I agree with that people should generally appreciate the fact that we even get these business day updates, it's still within reason to point out when an update is lackluster.

"You know, it's pretty grey and cloudy outside. Kind of depressing."

"What are you complaining for? It could be storming! Rain. Thunder. Lightning. TYPHOONS. EARTHQUAKES. APOCALYPSE!!! You should feel lucky you even get weather at all!"

". . . Okay, yeah. . . . But it's still cloudy."

Of course, if someone goes "WTF, WHY ISN'T THE SUN OUT ITS DOING THIS ON PURPOSE THIS JUST RUINED MY LIFE LET ME GO KILL MYSELF", that's just obnoxious. But in general, I don't see the harm in letting your true feelings about the update known. If it sucks, say it sucks!

A bad update is a bad update, regardless of the day. Today's update was underwhelming for most people, and it would've been underwhelming if it came tomorrow or 3 weeks from now. Telling people to stop complaining doesn't make the update any better for them. I appreciate the fact that Sakurai goes to the trouble of providing us with all this Brawl info, and people do just need to accept the less-than-exceptional updates and move on, but all this "I will correct this forum's greedy ways with my heavenly words of truthiness!" stuff isn't a good means of making that happen.

[/end rant that probably makes me the biggest douche on the boards]

Being a good little conformist
I don't think it's productive to post a thread yelling at the general population of Smash Boards. As we've opined, it's pretty silly to spend a lot of time complaining about a low-quality update, but that's not to say you can't call an uninteresting update what it is. With that said, we can still try to keep that kind of talk into a few specific places (much like we do with any other topic of conversation, in threads), so as to not intrude on other discussion.

This thread, though, just brings more attention to the naysayers, and there's really nothing productive that can come from that.
