SWF Create-a-Team 1: Pokemon NOMINATIONS

I think that, in addition to PMing our ideas to ss18, we should post them here so everybody can see what's been suggested.


Pokemon: Swellow
Tier: Underused
Reasoning: Guts swellow, when given toxic/flame orb, attains 403 attack (if jolly) and outspeeds almost all pokemon. Not only that, it effectively gains status effect immunity because it's already poisoned/burned. Swellow is a KO machine with facade and brave bird and makes an excellent U-turn scouter. Steel Wing is an often-overlooked option for the fourth move, and helpfully batters TTar and Aerodactyl (who hopefully wouldn't be running a Jolly nature). Pursuit is, of course, the more often used fourth move.


Pokemon: Azelf
Tier: Overused
Reasoning: Actually, sweeping non-lead Azelf isn't used particularly often, but can take down a lot of top OU pokemon. With flamethrower, thunderbolt, psychic, and HP Ice, Azelf hits 19 of the top 25 pokemon super-effectively. Moreover, it outspeeds all but two of the top 25 (ties Azelf and Starmie). Some resilient ones may survive (i.e. Rotom-H, Latias) but you can say goodbye to the likes of Scizor, Gyarados, Gengar, etc.

Shedninja (Yes I know that first n doesn't belong)
Tier: ****ing Amazing
Reasoning: Wonder Guard. Is. The. Best. Ability. Ever. Also I 4-0'd Writer with a shedninja team.

I like Gallade too, basically because of what Terywj said. Also has decent typing and a not-too-shabby movepool.
