Actually I'm quite sure it's the opposite, lol. Less deadzone = more DI. I mean... at 90% deadzone you can't even move your character on the ground, how on earth are you supposed to DI out of a drill? :p
Think of it this way. We all know keyboard DI is godly, right? To DI up right on Keyboard you can just press Right, Up, Right, Up. Well when your dead zone is really high, it removes a lot of diagonal movement.

When I used to have about 70% DI and 100% Range, my hand on the char select screen would zoom across but if I tried diagonal it would go sloooooow.

So if your diagonals aren't being pressed so hard when your trying to di up right, it's as if your pressing up, right, up, right instead of pressing right, up-right, up, etc. because the game is recognizing the pressure from the diagonals has well.

tl;dr: It makes it more like keyboard DI by taking out the diagonal functions even more in a joystick or something like that. I'm sure someone like Ant-d or Isai could explain it way better then I could.

I thought kb DI was godly because you can input something like 2145154 different smash DIs in one frame, not because of this diagonal movement thing :O
Well, I'll just test it with someone. But I still think the best deadzone is at low % like Surri said, like 4 or 6% :O

Superstar, I think you can get an idea of what sort of and how much mindgames are being done in the match. In this videos it seems they attack so quickly, and they aren't that good in avoiding. Thats my point of view btw, i could be wrong.

I have read that:
stick range 52%
deadzone 5%
threshold 80%

is the closest to console settings you can get. i don't know if it is true

Should've gone for a pivot -> backthrow around :44, that probably would have killed him.

I don't really have much advice though because Pika is my worst character.

i think you just got completely outplayed lol, he read your techs.. was faster than you, is more technical and each combo was nearly perfect without hax di

First thing I noticed was he was much faster, and your pika felt very slow. Pika is faster than Mario. Fastfall a lot more, I saw almost none.

Other than that, people have already explained it... he read approaches, pulled off very nice combos, etc.

i hope u r joking. play against a top player and they will make a combo video of u too. i tried my best but sometimes im just owned, other times i do get a chance. im sure mevsec and alancitu matches are acted too, to make them look good. u see my point? and the point of showing these videos is not to make maltfox look good, it is to give me advice to make me better than him
i dont understand when u say i cant tech or DI. I did both in every match?!

In nearly every match, it seems like your DI'ing into his moves.

It's like a DBR combo video...

theres your problem.. if you're always thinking that teching or DIing away is going to work it won't

you need to do the best tech or DI you think he wont expect.. it gets better as you play more but otherwise you're going to get tech chased and be easily read going the same way

for example: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cqza_0dNKEU&feature=related

1:00..

3 techs the same way? a tech in no direction would be quicker to get up and jump/run out the way or no tech and a get up attack if he realises and comes in for a grab

ur DI can improve a lot

u don't tech away from the opponent

u follow the opponent into the pipe and then ask us what u did wrong

u jump and do uair high enough in the air where u can't even do another move after and makes u vulnerable while u land

and he knows how to hit you more than you know how to hit him

Maybe now that you've said, what we've been saying, he will pay attention...

hehe, it was part of my 'trick' to tech towards him. who would think i would tech towards him? in hindsight we can see i failed, but i did try the trick
>=]
he is good at getting me after the tech, even if i went a different way probably im still owned. next time i will try teching away. i still have more matches to upload, but takes a long time to upload them

Why is it taking a long time to upload?

If you have a lot of videos you can use the bulk uploader to cut time

it takes long time coz all the matches are in 1 file, then i have to edit them with video editor, then i have to encode, then i have to upload, then i have to name.... it's OWN'T

we record by recording everything at once, then after i split the matches. it would slow down the games if we keep stopping the recording and starting again. videos are less important than matches for us. i will upload some tonight, i have some time.

True, i simply figured these matches where done FOR uploading :p

So you could do say... even 10 matches where you specifically set out to record them, THEN itd be easier

the best matches are the ones you never expect to be good so it'd be better to record them all incase you do amazing bish than 10 mediocre matches

See Surri, why shooting for combos at 0% sucks w/ Mario. See 0:04, 0:30, and I see rest of vid later. :p

Edit: Also see 1:00, and 1:33, and 1:37.
