Think of it this way. We all know keyboard DI is godly, right? To DI up right on Keyboard you can just press Right, Up, Right, Up. Well when your dead zone is really high, it removes a lot of diagonal movement.Actually I'm quite sure it's the opposite, lol. Less deadzone = more DI. I mean... at 90% deadzone you can't even move your character on the ground, how on earth are you supposed to DI out of a drill?![]()
When I used to have about 70% DI and 100% Range, my hand on the char select screen would zoom across but if I tried diagonal it would go sloooooow.
So if your diagonals aren't being pressed so hard when your trying to di up right, it's as if your pressing up, right, up, right instead of pressing right, up-right, up, etc. because the game is recognizing the pressure from the diagonals has well.
tl;dr: It makes it more like keyboard DI by taking out the diagonal functions even more in a joystick or something like that. I'm sure someone like Ant-d or Isai could explain it way better then I could.
