There, I knew these thing would happen eventually
Will talk about it larer
Ok, now i am available so i can type a more lengthy thoughts on it
Going tbh, having refferences to other major nintendo games or their stuff like themes or anything, this was likely to occur for paper jam. It happened for not jsut this game with dlc and stuff, it really was predictable, so much that even when I reacted for soem hours a bit negatively that the game was announced, it didn't took me long to figure out at least it woudl help in the long term.
So, now I think I am in better position to explain my reasoning on the transition thing that would happen with paper jam.
I said it a lot with m&l, but for m&l, it's jsut another entry in the series. It is an m&l game, acts like one and should be seen as one, that, there's no room for interpration there.
But this game does more than acting only on the m&l series. It brings the Paper Mario series on the front seat while usually, it was refferenced but not this much. Proof of this is me getting happy when they do refferences on social media or VERY deep refferences in games like AC new leak (for those who don't know, Guliver talks about Boberry from TTYD). I like when they do this because it's better than doing nothing, but it is not much.
Paper Jam, is however major. To get the idea, JUST the character Paper Mario got like I would say more than what he got all the way before. I mean, first his name (which is really big imo, before, his name was implied), then it goes into trademark and in game, everything about him is clearly not the same as mario so his own identity is even becomming obvious. They even expand it, like this game is giving so much recognition to the character and his series too.
So, for me, it was likely that they would want to have this game as a start of this. it got into a streetpass panel which honestly, was very predictable, but when it gets to mario maker, that now goes even further.
And this is the point of why I am writting this: I really don't think it's about to end. We got Paper Mario in another rpg series and now in another nintendo game, I really don't feel they are done tbh. Who knows, themes? badges? idk, but the mario maker thing just proves my point that as paper jam goes, i feel it's a transition for Paper Mario to shine.
Will this end in another entry for the Paper Mario series, no, but imo, it still makes it more likely. When they go honestly very far to emphase on his character, that usually means they are clearly not done with him and same goes for his series.
So, this is why I get happy for every refferences they do like this, even though this one is just to promote the game, you can't deny that paper mario is still there and the game they are promoting is emphasing paper mario ANYWAY.
there, maybe my view on Paper Jam is more clear, but this is a major reason why I still bought the game despite the doubts I have.
And if you are very pessimist, here's a way to see it: It's not worse than SS on multiple aspect so if you still feel it's not good enough (which imo, I don't expect them to gp there right away as i see it as a transition) think that it's making the bad stuff go slower than it was before which is in the end better than being worse.....
