It's being called Pokemon Rainbow, a 3DS game that encompasses the settings and Pokemon from generations 1-4: Red and Blue, Gold and Silver, Ruby and Sapphire, and Diamond and Pearl. You can take my word for it that the graphics are done up very nicely. The perspective is similar to what you'd expect from Pokemon games, but the camera is much more dynamic. The graphical style is characterized by very clean, dark lines. Almost cartoonish, but not quite. Battles look radically different, and move away from the use of pixel art. Though it seems that the interface is still made of pixels. The battle that it shown is between a totally new trainer and a wild Weedle. The trainer uses a Pikachu.

I'm not privy to any story details, as I only know what will be announced tomorrow. The story is concurrent with Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 in terms of timeline. There are over 20 new Pokemon, and two will be revealed tomorrow. One is an evolution of an older Pokemon Eevee, called Draconeon. The other is a totally new Pokemon, called Verbill. It looks like a rodent, much like the Pokemon Patrat, but has a sort of pirate theme going on.

A Wii U app will be launched along with the game, which will be announced tomorrow. However, all that will be said is that the app will be addressed "at a later date". The logo for the app features a globe with Pikachu, Munna, Treeko, Cyndaquil, and Piplup popping out from various countries.

I highly doubt this is real.

Sounds like something emmited from a Pokemon fan theory generator. It's got a lot of nice sounding ideas but they don't form a cohesive whole.

So my mother decided to be nice to me and allow me to get one of the FEs. Got Birthright first since I always tend to do the first paths when it comes to differing paths with major changes.
Still, really liking it so far. Despite no Duel Audio, the voices are pretty good. Also, I don't know(or can't remember if it was in the first chapters) if there were any changes to main story dialogue if they mention:

To be fair, it's true that codenames don't always last. The Nintendo Wii was known as the Revolution early on in its development cycle before they threw it out for he new name.

Considering it's only being designed for the Oculus Rift and other current gen VR systems at the moment, there is nothing to be worried about right now, since those don't interact with your nerves and are literally just like a lens of sorts that makes it look like you are actually there. It's not like the Nerve Gear which literally puts a person's consciousness inside a virtual world.

I mean it's fun to joke about the "LOL WE ALL GONNA PLAY A DEATH GAME" but that is not even remotely possible, especially since it is designed purely for Oculus.

And if you really are scared of it you can just not play it. Hell, if they stick too close to the source material, the game won't be very good. SAO wouldn't be a good game if it is exactly how it is in the anime.

As ChikoLad stated, the whole transporting the entire conscience to the virtual word by neuronal manipulation is impossible to recreate in reality (with current technology, at least).

It will have a level immersion close to what is depicted in the anime for the most part, especially the visual part, but it's still a far cry from what the anime shows.

On second thought, it seems that the VR headset they show isn't an existing one and just a random mock-up, but it looks very similar to the Oculus so they probably are trying to convey that it's for current gen VR systems like that.

Regardless of that, the technology to transport a person's entire consciousness into a virtual world is literally impossible right now and I don't even think it's being worked on, at least not in public knowledge. Worrying about this is unfounded.

As someone who has used the Oculus Rift (the second developer version), I can tell you that the only real amount of pain it will give you is a headache or sore eyes if you use it for too long. And some people do find the experience "too real" and can feel frightened by say, a rollercoaster VR game, maybe even throw up, but that's about it.

Actually come to think of it, I wonder how realistically playable this will be given the limitation that using VR headsets for too long leads to sore eyes and headaches. The game would have to be really well paced to allow people to jump in and out without much hassle. People typically play MMOs for ours on end and they are designed for that, so I'm interested to see how this game handles it.
