*Times are approximated and are subject to change.

Game Settings:

-Mode: STOCK
-Stocks: 4
-Handicap: OFF
-Team Attack: ON
-Stage Select: ON
-Damage: 100%
-Item Switch: NONE
-All Characters Available.
-All sets are best-of-3 except for the Semis and Finals which are best of 5.

Tournament Rules (Rules Changed):

-The 1v1 and 2v2 tournaments will be double elimination so every player or team is guaranteed 2 series or a minimum of 4 games.
-Seeding for the tournament will be done randomly from the beginning.
-If you face the same opponent or team twice or more in a tournament, the results of the previous series will not be used for that series and both players or teams will enter that series 0-0 and will play for best of 3 or 5.
-If time permits us to hold a Free For All tournament, each match will have a 3 minute time limit with 4 players competing. Dream Land will be used for every match and players will blind pick their characters. After the first match, the player with the lowest score (kills - deaths) will be eliminated. Another match will be played with the top 3 players and 3 minute time limit. The player with the lowest score will then be eliminated and the top 2 players will advance to the next round. In the event of a tie for last place, the player with the most kills will advance. If that also results in a tie, a 1 on 1 match-up will then be played with 1 stock and blind picks called on Dream Land to determine who will advance. Once you are eliminated, you are out of the tournament.

Stages:

-The Stage List consists of Congo Jungle, Peach’s Castle, Dream Land and Hyrule Castle.
-The first match will be Dream Land unless agreed upon by both parties.

Characters:

-All characters are allowed.
-For visibility reasons, players may request that Black DK (Right-C), Dark Samus (Down-C) and Dark Falcon (Right-C) not be used if Congo Jungle or Sector Z is the stage. The opposing player may reset the match without penalty if they wish for a color change. Taking or dealing any damage nullifies this right.

Set Procedure:

-Players select characters for first match. Double Blind Picks may be called.
-The loser of the previous match selects the next match’s stage from the allowed stages.
-The winner of the previous match selects their character.
-The loser of the previous match selects their character.
-Steps are repeated until the set is over.

Additional Rules:

-Any stage may be played on if both players agree to it.
-Alternate controllers will be tested prior to the match to prevent unfair advantages.
-All series except for the semis and finals have a 20 minute time limit for the sake of keeping the tournament on time. The team or player winning when the time has expired will be awarded the win.
-If a player pauses during any set without prior agreement from the other opponent(s), a warning will be issued the first time. On the second offense, the opponent(s) have the right to take a stock away from the pauser's stock from the moment of the pause and begin a rematch where all players’ percentages are reset to zero, or the opponent(s) have the option to simply force the pauser to forfeit a stock without restarting the match.
-Extreme stalling will not allowed. Any case of such will result in a warning for first offense, followed by automatic forfeit of the match for repeat offenders per the discretion of the administrator. If there is no movement from either player, the losing player is considered to be stalling. Running away momentarily is acceptable, but avoiding your opponent for an extended period of time or the remainder of the match will be considered stalling.
-If the N64 freezes or turns off anytime during the match, the player winning at the time can choose to restart the match or continue the match with the same amount of stock at the time of disruption with percentages reset to 0.
-Cheating in any form or intentionally sabotaging the game by resetting the game, yanking the controller to freeze the game or hitting the N64 will result in an automatic disqualification from the tournament.

Are controllers provided or do players need to bring their own?
You almost certainly have to bring your own. I'll bring some extras though if that's an issue.

Also I'm bringing some CRT's because LCD's lag to ****.

I know stalling is a big issue because of no timer in smash 64, but stalling needs to be clarified from camping.
Can we just set a timers for the match, and play by normal rules dealing with time.

We will clarify the rules at the tournament, but there is a 15 minute maximum time limit for each match. Each moderator will use their discretion for stalling and we will give a warning for the first offense if we think that you are stalling. Running away will not be considered stalling, but staying in the same spot or deliberately trying to run out the clock will be considered stalling.

If its to an individuals discretion about what is and isn't stalling. It isn't worth the drive. 15min isn't suitable for a match if one game alone might require 8 or 9 min. You gotta clarify that stuff here in the thread. Don't we already have established rules for this game anyway lol.

Do not allow hyrule castle then. For the sake of the tournament, if you're going to have vague camping/stalling rules like this, do NOT allow hyrule or some bad things will happen.

This is how Apex runs their tournament and it doesn't seem to be an issue there. By match I meant every game has a 15 minute time limit, but based on the number of people attending now, we might have to make it that each series will have a 20 minute time limit. Running away momentarily to avoid battle is acceptable, but if you are continuously trying to avoid your opponent, that will be considered stalling. As long as you are not deliberately trying to delay the game, you will not be penalized for stalling.

These are the same rules Apex uses for their tournament, except for allowing Hyrule. The rules are difficult to clarify because there are many different scenarios where some might think a player is stalling and others might disagree. As long as you are not trying to delay the game, you will not be penalized. There's a 15 minute time limit for each game to prevent players from stalling and waiting for the time to expire to win, but we might be changing the time limit because of the number of people attending.
