Super Smash Bros. Melee Character Betting Game

Alright so I am going to revive a game that was played in this room about 6 or 7 years ago.


The rules are as follows:
Everyone that plays this game will start with 1000 points each. I will announce 4 different characters from Super Smash Bros. Melee that the CPU's will use to fight each other in a match. You can bet any amount of points you want on any character you want. You can only bet on one character, however. I will also announce the different details of the match (time limit, stock, stage, etc...).


Then I will announce the date and time the fight will take place, and when I will be posting the results. This will usually be about 2 or 3 days after I announce the characters that are to fight.

As for the results:

1st place: 3x the points you bet
2nd place: 2x the points you bet
3rd place: 1x the points you bet
4th place: Lose all points you bet


If you miss the first round don't worry. You can join this game at any time.


If I have not been clear enough feel free to post some questions.


-- 9/18/2009 NEW RULE: If characters tie with each other, the results will be determined by a super sudden death match, regardless of the rank the characters are competing for (like 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Place)


So lets get this game started!!


Type: Time Limit (2 minutes)
Items: Medium. All items set to "on"
Stage: Poke Floats


Characters: (all level 9)

1. Pikachu
2. Roy
3. Mr. Game and Watch
4. Dr. Mario

Just post your bets and I will make a table when I post the results. Everyone starts with 1000 points.

Results will be posted June 24th at 8PM Pacific Time.

Oh yeah and let me also mention that once you are in the game, and you miss a round because you did not bet, I will put an X right by your name on the table. Once you get 3 X's in a row, then you are out of the game. But once you post a bet, all the X's will be cleared. So just don't miss 3 rounds in a row and you will be cool.:)

This game sounds great.

I'll bet 250 points on Roy.

EDIT: Can we include Brawl characters in the future as well?

roy is dumb,pika recovers to high,dr.mario isn't really good,G&W just jacks off. so I guess pikachu because he will spend the least amount of time on the stage I nearly went with G&W

1000 on pikachu. So want do we win in the long run or do we cash it in for something?

If I win in the long run I want back in the melee boards or much more respect for pichu

brawl isn't nearly as fair it's basicaly whos mtaknight or who gets the item first

dude I tested this pika won a little more and sudden death roy WTF tryed to spike killed him and roy died before pikachu It's about even

Yeah, but it makes the game more fun. It changes the variables so that you have to be more careful about how you bet.

I bet some super nerd will post a cpu counter pick list and that will be the end of this and if we do 64 no link dittos because I think they camp

sorry for the delay everyone. i was asleep :(

Clownbot: i do not have brawl right now. my roommate had it but he moved out and all im stuck with is melee. so there will be no brawl for now.

and without further ado, here are the results!

RESULTS:

1st Place: Dr. Mario +3 (5 kills, 2 falls, 0 SD's)
2nd Place: Roy+1 (4 kills, 2 falls, 1 SD)
3rd Place: Pikachu -1 (3 kills, 3 falls, 1 SD)
4th Place: Mr. Game and Watch -5 (0 kills, 5 falls, 0 SD's)

Here is how everyone stands:

TimeWarpedBrawler: 1000

so we only have 5 players for now. but if you are new to the game and havent bet yet feel free to join, because you can join at any time

Um doesn't every decent pichu player have a WTF button? you know the button that just ***** and they are always like WTF pichu. remember to keep it clean

INSANE CARZY GUY: i still dont know what a wtf button is. it is a cpu. do you mean the thing he does when you push the A button and he just headbutts everyone like nobody's business?

INSANE CARZY GUY: hmm well i guess i have no control over whether or not the cpu decides to do things like that. so i guess your bet would be on pichu then.


and also im gonna postpone the results to saturday morning...anytime before noon. because im going to be out tonight.

You will know for a fact if he has it it will be ****. We should come up will things to trade in points for. like maybe a new sig,avtar,pick the next match set-up, hall of gramblers,etc. this could be really fun and don't forget to have an impossiblely hard thing to get(50000 points)

It was a very close match between Samus and Pichu. They ended up having one life each and started from that neutral platform thing at the same time. Samus ended up shooting a missile sending Pichu into outer space. Guess the wtf button didnt pull through that time...

I know. I just wanted to point out the fact that despite the match being Super Mario BrotherS, there's only one brother.

Regardless, I ACTUALLY put my 500 on peach.

Wow, you didn't consider that the SERIES was being referred to? I mean, I felt it would've been logical for Luigi to be in the match, but it seems kind of n00bish just to do that based on what MAY have been a typographical error...
