Awesome timeline! Where did you find it?

Also, the lucario date is wrong. He was in 2005, as red rescue team was released then in japan. Lucario was a cameo in that, before he officially appeared.

Oh dear, the timeline is empty after 2008. This will not do. Not at all. 2010 needs Shulk and Zoroark. 2011 needs Wandering Heroes. 2012 needs Dillon and Chrom. :awesome:

This is really cool! I hope that the newcomers for smash 4 fill that big gap in there.

It'll be kinda sad if there are no characters created between Brawl and Sm4sh.
Even Brawl had a couple of characters created in the year before its release or so.
Hoping for Shulk at least.

The more time goes by, the more I think that someone from Wonderful 101 will be in it. Think about it- Smash has proven to be a system seller and has been proven to sell games that people otherwise might not have played- think of how many people hadn't known who Ness was in Smash 64, or how many people hadn't heard of Fire Emblem until Melee. With how little the Wii U sales have been, it would make sense to utilize a new IP that might help sell more systems (I guess this is more based toward people playing Smash 3DS) and might revitalize Wonderful 101 sales. Plus it's something new and not as expected which is way Sakurai

I don't know about W101. In not that into super heroes.

Smash brothers really does bring a lot of cool stuff to the table, and unusual characters add to the charm of the game. Earthbound, Pikmin, Fire Emblem, and even Metroid are games I wouldn't be interested in if it weren't for smash bros. All this talk about Shulk has really got me wanting to try Xenoblade.

They should put more odd characters in this new game. Chibi-Robo, Katamari Demacy, and this Dillon guy come to mind. If they tap into these characters, they'll sell games that don't have guaranteed success.

Chibi Robo and Dillon very well may make an entrance somewhere.. But I'm thinking Assist Trophies at best. Chibi Robo was already a sticker in Brawl, so there's that.

I love Katamari but there hasn't yet been a Katamari game for Nintendo, so I don't see it happening

I'm pretty sure Chibi-Robo will be an Assist Trophy, it's not big enough to be a character, but it's also big enough to at least appear in some form, since a new game from his franchise has been released or is going to (I don't remember).

Katamari could be Namco's representative. I don't know about you guys, but id prefer the prince to pac-man.

Yeah, Chibi-robot isn't really big enough. An assist trophy is still a big deal though, and a lot of people are asking for something like that.

I guess this is taking the character's debut in their own games cause Roy's first appearance was really in SSBM.

Announcer: CAPTAIN OLIMAR!
Haha, yep just popularity. Clearly, size means nothing to sakurai ;). Also, I think my autocorrect said Chibi-robot so...just ignore that typo. I really do know how to spell.
Yes And :lucas:'s US debut is SSBB
I don't think US release dates count as the first instance. Ness and Marth would be in that category too, and you can't really ignore Japanese release for everyone,

Wondering how many characters introduced after 2008 will be in the next Smash... there haven't been many new characters in the Nintendo universe besides Pokemon.

Shulk's always an option.

Presumably your fridge.
Whoa Punch Out was before Super Mario Bros? Kinda weird to think Mac is an older character than Peach and Link.

And here's hoping that huge gap gets filled in a bit. Nintendo's had a few charming new series since Brawl.

I'd like to see the timeline for assist characters, Starfy, Ashley, Saki, etc...

As for the gap around Brawl on the timelinel, Chibi Robo, Shulk and Dillon could fill it, but I can't help but think of all of the old characters I want like Ridley, Takamaru and Paper Mario. Then again, who says that they won't all make an appearance?
