So, I bought recently the Pokemon bkack and white 2 ost on itune and it also included a bunch of emerald and platinum song and this just got me into my head


It's perfect for smash it's so intense and quite unusual at the same time. Only awesome music gets into my head quickly like this one.

For me, this music is complete; it truly represent intensity mixed with creepy and shadow. This music also speaks by itself as I don't even have to play the game to realize how epic it is.

But seriously, as I said in my sig, the Paper Mario series has "infinite potential" and this is in every department such as music, stahe and character.

Paper Mario is my #1 most wanted newcomer. He has such a cool potential for attacks with his items and party members and the series has such good music to chose from for stages and other things.

If we're throwing in Mario RPG battle themes, why not go for the very best?


Also, having just played Kid Icarus Uprising for the first time, I'm delighted to see that Boss Fight 1, Dark Pit's Theme, and Palutena's Return (the Uprising remix of the original Underworld music ) are all in SSB4. If there's one other KI:U song I'd like to hear in SSB4, it's this, the remix of the dungeon theme from Kid Icarus NES. Sakuraba did such a good job with it.

I don't know why I don't post that much here any more. I have a terrible eyesight from far away or small elements and I noticed that because of this, I tend to be more distracted by music than visuals. So, I appreciate TONS of vgm. I'll try to do a list of my best and that I want in smash but I can't list all it would crash the thread :)

Earthbound - Sanctuary guardins: If you know my activity here, you'll probably lived it already, but if you haven't, read this while listening to the video at the beginning of the post: http://smashboards.com/threads/the-...splounge-water.324284/page-1099#post-17045763 (yeah it's a long Ridley essay but since he's well known, I think you'll understand anyway).

Basically, this is a very unique boss music because instead of being intense, it tries to remind you how critical and serious this moment is. It even got to the point when it makes you think twice for every decisions you take. As a trademark, I listen this music in loop the whole time I type a big opinion piece or essay and I always share the extended version of the beginning of it. It's a reminder for me to think carefully and the reader to consider carefully as it can be critical in debates. Imagine in smash: constantly reminding you to take decisions wisely. Sounds epic but imagine in competitive... I love it.

Pokemon X/Y - Gym leader theme: Very impressive since it starts for a long time and it's repetitive which I normally hate but this one do it in a way that it makes it better and that's with a slow rhythm. It gives me the impression of taking an elevator to the sky. Since the stage on 3DS is literally that, why not?

TLOZ - A link between worlds - Lorule Castle: It's just so epic and the fact that it gets better makes it good for a fight getting in intensity.

Metroid series - ANY version of Lower Norfair: First, screw SSE for not using this. Second, it's my favourite track of the series since it gets a dangerous mood and the chore in the background makes it so much better. Perfect for fights.

Kirby Air Ride - Dense fog today: mostly for smash run events like in city trial but this one is really the music that makes a mysterious feel. I would like a fog event with this music.

Kirby Air Ride - TAC challenge: Yeah 2 tracks from this but this one no matter how they managed to make it fit would just be hilarious. It's everything that is related to the word "awkward" mixed with a sort of elevators music? Weird, but just so funny to listen.

Nintendo Land - IDK official name since I'm confused but it's this : Again, another repetitive music surprisingly good but this is the whole music. The same melody is used over and over with alteration every time and it just works so well. It's the kind of music to hear when you're on the offensive.

Pokemon Colosseum - most of the recurring battle music: They are very good because they are so intense. Friendly battle is my favourite but normal battle is close. Also, why not that disco boss theme? More as easter egg but anyway.

SSBM menu 1: yeah it's confirmed but this is the music that gives me the most nostalgia I can get (more details by reading this). I always replace the theme in brawl by this and even tough the new one seems to be great, I need menu 1.

Ok, I didn't put any Paper Mario music until now because there will LOTS of them. Mostly TTYD btw.

Paper Mario - King of the koopas: just this music would be good enough but there's a lot of good tracks too. I put only this because this one was by far my favourite track of the game. It starts quite brutally and it's intense as soon as it starts. Any fights would fit this.

Super Paper Mario - Ultimate show: never played the game (I should) but I heard the music and it just works perfectly for obvious reasons (c'mon, it was in Project M for a reason).

Now, TTYD...I might just name them all and give explanation for those that are just...amazing.

Tittle screen: So catchy I can dance for hours on this (btw, perfect celebration if Paper Mario is confirmed). The only music that came close to be better than menu 1 nostalgia excluded.
  • Rogueport, town of thieves: obviously, love the length.
  • Rogueport's sewers: Don't ask why but It just happened to be the best area for testing when I glitch hunted since the FPS was higher than Rogueport. So, I became addicted to it.
  • Petal Meadows: Even tough it's based on the main theme, it doesn't sounds like it.
  • It's battle time: So short, yet, so catchy!
  • Magnus Von PUNISH!: VERY short but 10 seconds of the track is just so epic that it makes up for it.
  • Hey, don't move: Same as TAC challenge but even more funny.
  • Rawk Hawk ROCK!: So exciting but who doesn't want that?
  • Battle against Mario, no Doopliss!: THE BELLS!!!
  • Ship battle with Cortex: I don't know what is called the sounds at the beginning but combined with bongos and jungle ambiance, it gives an interesting mix while being intense.
  • Excess Express night: It's basically The Roost from ssbb but a little faster (very calm tough). I listen to it when I need to be relax.
  • Fire up the Canon and blast to the Moon!: Short but so motivating. Similar effect to the gym leader theme above.
  • X-Naut foretress: The best offensive feel music I've heard. Again, it's done by repeating the same sounds. It's just prompts you to fight someone.
  • Riddle tower: The sounds makes you feel "stuck" somewhere so you could do interesting stuff with it.
  • Big bowser Koopa Krush: REALLY good one because of how it starts right away and has a serious feel to it. It's the opposite of Gygas means business in earthbound which is good because you don't wait 50 seconds until it truly starts.
  • Shadow Queen first phase: it's good enough even if final battle is way better. Mostly because violins.
  • Shadow Queen Final battle: THE MUSIC THAT FITS PERFECTLY. The most complete boss fight music I've heard and one of the most intense one. If there's ANY music from TTYD that fits for a fight in smash, it just has to be this one. I can even get the feel of the music OUTSIDE the game.
But I kept the best for the end. I know it won't be there because it's not suited for a fights but including this music in any possible way would just be overhype:


THIS is just...........perfection! It's the most motivating music and the best encouragement one I've heard and it is my favourite music of the whole game. It follows a long term progression with downs and ups but you still feel progress. ANY reveal trailer ESPECIALLY Paper Mario would just make the character's supporter go crazy. Why not for Ridley or King K rool? It fits everywhere. But what COMPLETELY blew my mind was that it's probably the most inspired music I heard of.

You can agree that this music sounds similar to this? just check the melody it's the same.

Well, this music served as inspiration for some music at the end such as this one (even more obvious)


Where I'm getting with this? Well, listen to the video above but set the speed at 2x faster so you would get a fast version of the melody and less silence. Now, prepare to have your mind blowed because what you just hear is the same melody as this: (listen at normal speed)


YES I'M NOT KIDDING. You should heard the same pattern for both music which is like

1 note - 2 notes - bunch of notes - (quickly following) 1 note - 2 note - bunch of notes

You may have to slow the second video to get what I mean but you should hear the same pattern. The last 2 notes in the second music are here in the music I mentioned by link above at the end of it (it's intro story, the intro of the game). So, I can tell you that the second video was based on the first one and the first one is based on intro story which was the base of we believe in you mario. Therefore, we believe in you mario was based on the original famicom startup sound which is 7 seconds of NES beeps!

To get from famicom startup to the best encouragement music is GENIUS!

Wasn't sure where to ask about this, but through this searching I found the right thread. I just heard the character select music for the first time and it is amazing. It even has a hint of that soul caliber select theme in there. I'm sure this has been discussed before but what do you guys think? I can't wait to hear the full version
