Lucas is my alt but im thinking about making him my main instead of toon link, all becaus of his aerials. lucas' nair (if timed right) can be combo'ed into almost anything. what i like to do with it is nair then up tilt and follow up that with a fair or bair. another thing that can link up well is his down grab with an up tilt (only low percentage about up to 36% or so).

Don't SHFFL Nairs. If you fastfall after a Nair you get lag where Lucas does a handstand for a second. If you simply Short hop them you'll land with no lag so you can combo more reliably.

I personally find sh'd nair into upsmash at 40-80% (depending on the character) can be effective as well..but situational at best.

Directly above you tipping a dair.
Nairs need to be done by dashing for momentum then short hopping, releasing the joystick and pressing A. You can press the joystick again after pressing A for some DI.

P.S. motgnoix, here are a few tips/moves for your Lucas. Use short hop dair/bair/nair as approaches but mix them up. You can use pk fire and whip out pk freeze for an easy 2 hit combo if you are lucky. Use pkthunder from the floor when the opponent is dashing to you and hit them with it when they get near, then curve it backward and hit yourself with it in lucas' back. When you smack your opponent offstage, go for a bair. Hit them with lucas' foot to spike them (don't aim with the sparks, aim to hit with his foot). Even if it doesn't spike, you still can recover.

thanks for the tips. imma try that pk fire then freeze one. i've been trying to think of a way to work in that move without putting myself at a great risk. and yea... i think i should use the dair more often as the spike instead of the bair... but the bair just looks so much cooler when it comes out.. also i do use a ground pk thunder but always forget to aim it at myself towards the end.

The lag inst THAT bad, and if you complete the whole move in the air, you sweetspot it and the opponent sometimmes goes flying.

But you are right in a way. I'm just used to using the term "shuffle" to say "short hopped aerials"

Yeah a lot of people seem to. Just trying to keep things straight. And anyways I prefer the knockback from Nair than getting a chance to combo into utilt. I'd rather have them off the stage for an easy edgeguard kill.

In response to a few posts I've read, short hopped Dairs are a bad idea. They're laggy at the end and for most characters don't hit with all 4 hits. Full hopped or Double Jumped Dairs are pretty much always a better option. Grounded PKT1 and PKT2 are really dangerous. Only use them as mindgames or if you're playing a noob. Or 4 player.

Don't freak out over Lucas's Nair. Yes it's a handy move that can lead to a few combos but it also has annoyingly low priority and range. Especially against sword characters, overusing your Nair can land you in a world of hurt. On the other hand it can absolutely destroy Olimar and others. It's not a move you can spam either way so don't attempt to.
