Hope it isn't like the ExciteBike track in Mario Kart, the track is super fun, but I was promised constantly different track layouts. They all feel the same to me. This has different art styles, stage elements, and more randomness. (Hopefully) This seems promising to me.
Online Excitebike has always the same layout

Yipee another Mario stage. Can we have one more, 11 Mario stages isn't enough. :|

****, the fact that Mario received another stage isn't even my main issue with this. I would have been cool with a long deserved Bowser's Castle stage.

Sorry to be a Negative Nancy, but how, HOW is it that can say that Tropical Freeze, Triple Deluxe, or Splatoon shouldn't get content because they're too recent and then turn around and praise this level despite SMM being only 5 days old (and 3 days old worldwide)???

Triple Deluxe is a 3DS game, to release a stage from it for the Wii U, they would have to create brand new HD textures and stuff and I doubt they would release a new stage exclusive to only one version. What about a Rainbow Curse stage instead? Also, maybe the speculated second stage is from Splatoon?

Another stage? I think we can prove it!

Look at these image URLs...

No stage 4?

Note: Suzaku castle is not numbered like this, but it could be "Stage 4" and just not be labeled. The more I think about it, the more I think that is the situation...it's not listed on the site like normal because it's with Ryu. It's probably stage 4...but the possibility is still there.

But Suzaku Castle was released before Hyrule Castle and Peach's Castle (Why so many castles, Nintendo?). If it were listed wouldn't it be number 2?

Hmm, good point.
That said, if Suzaku is unnumbered, that suggests that the new stage IS NOT tied to a playable character, because that stage would presumably be numbered...unless it's sold separately or something.

Who said anything about too recent when Yoshi got his Wooly World? That game isn't even out in North America yet!

That is odd...

It is possible that 5 was put with the castle in mind but no image was uploaded as on the DLC page there is no image of it because it is only sold in a bundle with Ryu... and the charecter sells the stage better than the stage sells the character.

But I am hoping you are right... It would be cool to get some old stage back

Too recent? Woolly World would like to have a word with you.

Too much Mario? It's Nintendo's flagship franchise, so expect a whole bunch of Mario.

Not competitively viable? Not meant to be.

I'm so excited for this. SMM looks really cool - haven't gotten it yet since I don't know if it's $60 worth of fun (looks more like $30) but I know I'll get the game eventually. The stages look great as well.

I am really interested to see if there will be anything else released as well, considering I doubt that all the team has been doing since June is making Tourney mode, three stages, and a handful of Mii costumes. I'd have expected an update on the 3rd when the ballot ends, maybe with a video of Sakurai saying "Thanks for your votes, we'll show some new characters soon!" But just like the E3 direct, this is coming a few days earlier than expected; this one just doesn't have it's entire contents leaked beforehand.

Can't wait for the goods! 10 days to wait!

Trust me, the game is worth the $60. One of the best Wii U games ever.

Normally, I'd be inclined to agree with you.
But consider the following:
This doesn't just represent Mario Maker, it also represents SMB, SMB3, SMW, and the NSMB series all at the same time. In future smash games, Super mario maker can replace all stages representing those games, freeing up dev time for overdue stages like Bowser's Castle.
