Stutter Stepping

As I was looking through the thread on it, I realized that Marth could use it with his fsmash. It won't extend the smash itself by very much (~1/4 of a square on wifi practice stage), but it could be helpful in spacing a tipper. Not a very big breakthrough, but useful for those situations in which your opponent is just out of range (or too close). I haven't tried other moves, but I'm pretty sure the b moves can do this too.

btw, to do this, dash forward (or backwards) and quickly smash forward (or backward). If you do it right, your smash will move. If not, you will dash-attack.

I didn't see a thread on this, so flame me if you want (but please, put 'FLAME' in the subject line. thnx)

Well actually, stutter stepping is done by pressing back on the control stick and pressing foward on the c-stick. What you are talking about is not nessecarily stutter step, but rather the fact that you can cancel the initial dash frames with a smash.

You'll see the greatest effects of stutterstepping with Falcon, Sonic, and Ganondorf.

I realized that this isn't necessarily stutter stepping, but I decided to say that rather than 'pressing back on the control stick and pressing foward on the c-stick'. It was also in the stutter stepping section in the AT thread, so I figured it was close enough.

The point isn't extending the range, it's to get the tipper more easily.

It does, still, move you forward or backward a bit to help space where your smash lands. :D

BTW, you'll love how much more he slides with his traction when you do this with his Usmash, it's pretty cool and handy.

Sonic Wave, you forgot Mario who has one of the longer and more useful stutter steps.

Marth's stutter step is different. If you jam back on the control stick and forward on the C-Stick, he will move slightly backwards. If you jam forward on the control stick and forward, he will move slightly forward. This is extremely helpful when trying to hit a perfect tip.
