Okiedokielookoutta... FOOORE!
My laptop isn't working and won't let me sign onto xp. After Windows boots up and before the log in box appears, I get this error message. It reads as follows: lsass.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click on OK to terminate the application

Okay, now from here, I have two options: Click the x to close the window, or click ok like it says to do. It doesn't matter which one I press, because once I get that window out of the way, all my laptop is is a black screen, with the mouse pointer. And that's about the most entertainment I'm going to get out of it. I have no choice but to turn it off via holding down the power button.

Now, before you say "just run it in safe mode, you crazy idiot," let me tell you that I have already tried that. It still gives me the error message before bringing me to windows. I called my older brother and asked what he thought and told me to insert my internet security disc and to "boot from cd", and then run a scan, however, the computer does not give me this option.

Here are the specifications of my machine:
Brand: Dell
Model: Latitude
Year: Probably 2002-2003
OS: Microsoft Windows bleck XP Professional

Does anybody know what causes this error? Because I DON'T.

My googling tells me that Isass.exe is a security program located in System32, but can be a virus. Since you are trying to log in, I don't think it's the virus part. XD

2 things:
1) Reformat Reinstall XP
2) Try running a chkdsk /r

To run a chkdsk /r, you need to put your XP disk into the computer as it starts, and run the recovery console [pressing R somewhere in the process will get you to it]. Type that in, then get a lot of coffee/get on your Mac cause it will take a while.

I hear chkdsk /f /r is also viable. r locates bad sectors and fixes, f just fixes errors. Good thing is, it fixes system32 errors.

1 is guaranteed to work unless your HD is just bad, 2, well, worth a shot. If you can't get into the Windows CD, go into the BIOS, make it so the CD/DVD is read before the hard drive.
