Hello,

I am writing to inquire about the general state of Brawl modding in 2018. It's probably been about 10 years since I've gotten my hands deep into this, and now that I can actually invest time into it, I kind of want to get into it again. I used to use Brawl Box and small Game-maker based programs to rip and implement models from other games (MDL0 only, no clone engine yet).

Where should I begin? Any good starter projects taking people?

Thanks!

So, a brief summary of stuff I know of that are definitely improvements over the years:
Model importing is now possible with Blender, as well as 3DS Max
Stage modding is a lot simpler now, especially with tools built specifically for that purpose
Animation has gotten loads easier, especially since there are now a lot more conversions for putting custom animations from programs such as Maya or Blender in Brawl now
Vast improvement on the clone engine, as well as porting characters over other characters with the use of .rels and/or moveset editing
Other stuff? Most likely, yes.
