I'm a Metaknight noob since i switched over from diddy and zelda last week
The only trouble I have right now is starting the match and knocking out

The first thing I do is run towards the enemy short hop over and down A in the middle of the short hop
It gives like 7% damage but after that I always tend to fall into a short period where I can't get the enemy over 20% while they get me to 50%
Then I start playing well and I get almost 200% damage on him while I stay under 100%
I can't knock them out for ****

I only use metaknight against people zelda has trouble against (olimar, lucas, *pikachu is good against my playing style*)
The friend im usually playing against knows the UpB knockout thing and avoids it everytime
So any tips on beginning then knockout?

PS: Olimar destroyed me in the air so I use NeutralB to come down to the ground and avoid his pikmin and that spinning thing. Is there anything better to do?

When i start a match, i always keep in mind that there are 4 basic ways of approaching:

1) Running Grab
2) Dash Attack
3) F-airs
4) Mach Tornado

For finishing a match, d-smash and shuttle loop are your best finishing moves. Be sure not to decay them through the match; you want to make sure they have KO power when you need them to.

Yeah, I tend to approach with a running d-grab and then I tornado it up for a while. I don't even worry about killing moves until they get to at least 80% or so, I just worry about damaging to then.

Affinity is definitely right about saving about shuttle loop and d-smash until you're ready to kill. If you decay them too much you kill two of your best killers. Without them, you're really gonna struggle to get KO's.

Drill Rush and Mach Tornado are good ways of recovering vs. any character, just make sure you hit with Drill Rush or you'll be vulnerable for a second.

Use mach tornado; his pikmin wont touch you.
Yup, using mach tornado to recover is awesome against Olimar. There's not much he can do against it. Just make sure that you're pretty close to the ground when it ends. If you're too high up, you'll go into fall special and be vulnerable for a short while.
