Okai, so i havent played pokemon since Red, and i just borrowed emerald. I can pick between Mudkip, Treecko and Torchik. Would anyone be willing to break the 3 down for me, advantages vs disadvantages? Thanks in advance =)

Stamping your library books.
Blaziken, the last stage of Torchic, has the best offensive stats of the trio, being Fire and Psychic. Flying, Psychic, Ground, and Water are good against him.

Sceptile, Treeco's final form, is the fastest of the, with decent Sp. Attack. His Grass-type is vulnerable to Poisen, Fire, Ice, Flying, and Bug, giving him the most weaknesses.

Swampert, the dual Water-Ground-type, has high HP compared to the others, and his Attack is pretty good. The only thing that owns him is Grass, with a 4-to-6 times damage an him.

It depends what you're using the starter for. If you plan to keep it the whole game as your best pokemon then swampert is the best, but you could go any which way.

Netbattle, I have no idea.

Torchic will begin with a large Special Attack. As it grows into a
Combusken
and then into a Blaziken, its Attack stat will surpass all other stats, with Special Attack and Speed high and everything else somewhat low. Ensure that the Torchic's nature doesn't hinder its Attack or Speed stats. Just keep in mind that Blaziken can be knocked out quickly when against powerful attackers.

If you're only playing ingame (i.e. noncompetitive) then Blaziken is the best choice. In Ruby and Sapphire, Blaziken could singly sweep all of the Elite 4, so a easy way to beat the game is to just only raise Blaziken the entire game and **** the Elite 4 with it. For Emerald, it's a bit different. The Elite 4 actually has some unorthodox attacks now, and you might need a few backups. Not that it's a LOT harder. I was bored a few weeks ago and ran through Emerald again with Blaziken and a Roselia (Lol).
