Until Ippo starts beating oppnents several weight classes above him, it's not.
It's a boxing anime with its own style and atmosphere.

Little mac does the same you know. I know for a fact that the likes of Bear Hugger, King Hippo, and Mr. Sandman aren't in Little Mac's weight class.
