Smash Journeyman
Well, I'll elaborate now. My original idea for this post was to discuss stage spikes. How safe it is, and it's linear ability against various opponents depending on situations and such.
I haven't implemented chasing off stage -> stage spikes in my game, I just don't find it safe, especially if they get the invincibility frames just as you DS.
Up Bs typically range near the stage. I've seen C. Falcs, Robs, Metaknights, DKs get stage spiked by various styles: Bair or DS. Of course, at Lower percentages a unsweetspotted Bair probably won't give enough knockback to stage spike.
Also, I bring DB and Bair before the DS mainly because, those two attacks stop momentum. Allowing time to DS before they grab ledge (and possibly edgehog you)
Marth's off stage game revolves around Bair Nair Fair and DS. His off stage game is excellent. But a DS finish, as sweet as it is, is the most unsafe attack. Stage spiking on the other hand is slightly safer by staying near the ledge.
I wanted other ways to stage spike. Or actually add strategies for off stage edge guards. Other than fair -> fair ... bair... those are givens.
Variety and setups?
================
DB (towards stage) -> DS
================
Effect: Cancel attack (upB)/stops momentum of an enemy then Dolphin slash (to ledge) = Stage Spike
=================
Bair (towards stage) -> DS
=================
Effect: "same as above" but Bair gives chance of stage spiking, iteself
==========
Usmash at edge
==========
Effect: "stage bounce" or stage spiked (super specific)

===========
DB (Down 3rd Hit)
===========
Effect: Diagonal momentum, much like a psuedo-spike
Anyway, I'm probably missing a few other methods... but how safe are these? more so, how effective are they?
Is stage spiking, worth the risk of getting edgehogged or gimped or tricked to death?
