Well, I'll elaborate now. My original idea for this post was to discuss stage spikes. How safe it is, and it's linear ability against various opponents depending on situations and such.

I haven't implemented chasing off stage -> stage spikes in my game, I just don't find it safe, especially if they get the invincibility frames just as you DS.

Up Bs typically range near the stage. I've seen C. Falcs, Robs, Metaknights, DKs get stage spiked by various styles: Bair or DS. Of course, at Lower percentages a unsweetspotted Bair probably won't give enough knockback to stage spike.

Also, I bring DB and Bair before the DS mainly because, those two attacks stop momentum. Allowing time to DS before they grab ledge (and possibly edgehog you)

Marth's off stage game revolves around Bair Nair Fair and DS. His off stage game is excellent. But a DS finish, as sweet as it is, is the most unsafe attack. Stage spiking on the other hand is slightly safer by staying near the ledge.

I wanted other ways to stage spike. Or actually add strategies for off stage edge guards. Other than fair -> fair ... bair... those are givens.

Variety and setups?

================
DB (towards stage) -> DS
================
Effect: Cancel attack (upB)/stops momentum of an enemy then Dolphin slash (to ledge) = Stage Spike

=================
Bair (towards stage) -> DS
=================
Effect: "same as above" but Bair gives chance of stage spiking, iteself

==========
Usmash at edge
==========
Effect: "stage bounce" or stage spiked (super specific)

===========
DB (Down 3rd Hit)
===========
Effect: Diagonal momentum, much like a psuedo-spike

Anyway, I'm probably missing a few other methods... but how safe are these? more so, how effective are they?

Is stage spiking, worth the risk of getting edgehogged or gimped or tricked to death?

lol yes, yes. elaboration. I LOVE Stage Spiking to death, so here are my opinions only for some of your questions and etc.

Characters such as Falco or Fox who use the illusion are harder to get, and really the only chance you have is if they're charging their B up, in which case they need to be at a certain position for you to Dolhpin Slash.

I really wouldn't count on Usmash just because of how seemingly precise it has to be set up. My best set up is to try and get behind them, use a Fair and then DS. Bair is also a good way to try to set that up even easier.

There's so much more to it, level selection and character selection can truly cary how and when you should stage spike.

Falco and Foxes typically illusion, and i've seen... I forget, but dash (away from spacies) -> Usmash and everytime either the spacing or the priority of the attack cancels out and punishes illusions. And Falco's Illusion spikes which is death...

maybe if you took this into more depth you would have got a better replies or any replies for that matter .
I updated it slightly. I apologize, I just don't find myself someone who leads discussions well, really.
