The overall idea is nice but having that many stage bosses, even if it's one at a time for each section is just too much imo.
It could just be Ridley, Kraid, and Mother Brain as hazards then. They could each have a part of the stage that they appear on in order and have simple attacks that aren't too much to deal with.

I really would like a Metroid stage that takes place on the outside surface of the planet Zebes for once.

i seem to recall a few people wanted a bowsers castle stage perhaps it should be a mario kart stage that punching bowser statue from mario kart 8 would be quite the stage hazard

Bowser's Castle from Super Mario RPG is my most wanted version.

I think it would be fun to battle on top of the two chandeliers. Maybe a Chain Chomp might sometimes drop one of the chandeliers, forcing the players to battle on one chandelier for a while, and picks up the second chandelier back up.

And it would be so awesome if the chandeliers rose all the way to the roof... where the Smithy sword is at... and the sword shoots beams at one of the chandeliers.

The only returning stages I want to see introduced back in Smash Switch are New Pork City, Fountain of Dreams, Summit, Saffron City, and Yoshi's Story (Melee). Coupled with all of the 3DS stages remastered, I think each franchise pretty much has good coverage and representation throughout.

I think new stages will be reserved for new franchises introduced like Splatoon, ARMS, Rayman etc.

Lots of people want a Bowser's Castle stage, so, here's my idea.

Bowser's Castle

The fight happens on the bridge from the end of every SMB Castle stage, with a platform moving back and forth above, and a Fire Bar on the far left of the stage. Every once in a while, an Axe appears on the far right, and touching it causes the bridge to disappear. Of course, there's lower blast zone, only Lava. The bridge reappears after a minute. Another hazard is chandeliers falling from the sky, crushing any poor sucker in the way.

Excellent. I hope we get a new R.O.B. Stage too and 8-player smash capabilities on all stages. We also need an option to turn stage bosses/hazards off of a slider to allow how frequent hazards appear.

Oh yes. R.O.B. needs his own home stage. I can't believe Gyromite isn't a stage yet.

How would the hazard switch work for certain stages such as moving stages (3D Land) or traveling stages (Skyloft) or transforming stages (Mushroom Kingdom U)?

Here's my third round of Stage Ideas:

Rayquaza

You fight on top of Rayquaza's back as it flys down to stop the battle between Groudon and Kyogre.

Yoshi

There are four small platforms lines up next to eachother, that will sometimes swap around. Pictures of Boos, Piranha Plants, Goombas and Bloopers fall from the top of the screen and land on the platforms. Rarely, an egg bottom will fall, and if egg top lands on it, a baby Yoshi hatches.. Sound familiar?

Flat Zone 3

Cycles between Mario's Cement Factory, Greenhouse, Octopus and Manhole.

Casino Night Zone

Four classic Sonic bumps surround the main platform at all four corners. At the bottom of the stage are two flippers, and just above the main platform is the famous Slot Machine. Hopping in will randomize three pictures for you, and either helps or hurts you depending on what you get.

Mario Franchise
Peach's Castle (Switch):
This map takes place outside of and in Peach's Castle from Super Mario 64. Different from Melee and 64's version, this map is a travel stage. It starts you outside of the castle, with a simple flat fighting area, and then takes you to the foyer, and it'll then take you all around the different rooms of the castle.

Zelda Franchise
Divine Beasts:
In this map, you fight across the backs and sometimes inside of the different Divine Beasts of Breath of the Wild. You start out on Divine Beast Vah Medoh, who is currently flying with you on it's back. The harsh winds force you backwards, similar to the Meta Ridley fight from Brawl. It'll then fly you around the different beasts will you will fight for a limited amount of time. Each one will have unique things, such as Vah Rudania slowly hurting you over time from the heat, or Vah Naboris having electric spots to avoid, and Vah Rudania firing water which will push you back forcefully.

Kirby Franchise
Dedede Arena:
Fight in the Dedede branded boxing ring from Kirby's past battles with his rival. Similarly to Boxing Ring the Punch-Out Stage, you can jump on the rings. Unlike that stage however, battles are limited to the ring. There are no walkways to fight in, and no light on top. The crowd around the arena is filled with Dedede's minions. It can be hard to recover or fight off the stage because going low hides you in the crowd.

Pokemon Franchise
Altar of the Sunne/Moone:
A map similar to Spear Pillar, where legendaries show up. This map takes place in the altar of the Sunne (For Pokemon Moon) and altar of the Moone (For Pokemon Sun.) It is a basic flat platform with pits on both sides, kind of like most Omega maps, but a little wider. Like previously mentioned, Legendaries and show up in the background. if Solgaleo shows up, he will roar and give all players his Full Metal Jacket, otherwise known as basically just making everyone metal. If Lunala shows up, it focuses a Moongeist Beam, which is a giant laser that hits the screen. Since Lunala is in the back and Lunala shoots forward, not only does the beam hit anyone in the middle, but it also blinds players in the middle of the screen, because the beam is hitting the screen. If Necrozma shows up, he quickly dashes away, leaving the stage in darkness for a little while.

Metroid Franchise
I will admit that the only game I've played so far in the franchise is the original, and I never even made it to the first boss. Soo... I'm idealess.

Donkey Kong Franchise
To have two empty-handed stage submissions in a row sucks. Anyway, I've played tons of Donkey Kong games, but no unique stages that haven't already been widespread before are coming to mind...

Pikmin Franchise
End of Day:
A map that takes place on the S.S. Dolphin, a Red Onion, a Yellow Onion, and a Blue Onion flying away into space, just like the End of Day in Pikmin. The S.S. Dolphin may be small, but it is the main platform, as the Onions are constantly flying around, sometimes even going in the background Jungle Hijinx style.

Mother/Earthbound Franchise
Twoson:
The town of Twoson is, unsurprisingly, the second town you visit in Earthbound. It takes place on the road inbetween the Flea Market and the School, and the flea market and school if you've ever played the game. It's a decently large horizontal map, with no ledges. In the flea market area, you can jump off of the tarps and stuff. The school is just an everyday building that you can stand on. Since the bike shop is in this town, a hazard could be people riding bikes down the road.

Fire Emblem Franchise
War:
I don't have many ideas for this one other than it's an active war.

Animal Crossing Franchise
Main Street:
It's the Main Street from Animal Crossing: New Leaf! Fight on the roof tops of the buildings, simple as that. If you've played Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you may know that the rooftops could pose an interesting battleground, but if I tried to explain it all here it would be complicated and unfun to read.

I fully stand by this idea. Ive mentioned this before back when we were speculating a stage for Geno if he should ever get in. I'd love this stage idea. hopefully it comes to be. :)

Then I would absolutely love a new stage based on the Beanbean Kingdom. I remember really wanting a stage like that back when the game was more relevant. (and when I was more strongly supporting Fawful as a playable character)

I support a Rhythm Heaven stage too! I would love to see See-Saw and Cheer Readers represented in the stage:)
But how would it work?

1. Plain, straightforward stage?
Nothing special going on. It would have various Rhythm Heaven characters in the background, much like the Animal Crossing stages. And a view of the "smiley castle" that you frequently see a lot in most of its games. But what would the overall background be like?

2. Rhythmic stage?
But it depends, it has to be playable enough to be fun to play on. How would it work? What would you have to do with the music to make the most out of it? If the rhythm gimmick kills the flow of the fight, it's pointless.

3. Huge stage with various level elements?
Huge like Temple, but not as much as Great Cave Offensive and Palutena's Temple. Various parts of the stage would include stuff like the Built to Scale workshop.

4. Random Layout Generator?
Like Gamer, Balloon Fight, and Tortimer Island. The stage would be made up of different elements of the series that work as platforms and hazards in many different ways. For example, you'll have a giant Fork Lifter hand on the side of the stage that jabs down at times.

5. Remix?
The stage will change to different levels from the series often as the fight goes on. All the way to the results screen! (This time, with Smash-related notes, grading you on your fighting ability) And repeat.

I agree. We already have a Paper Mario stage. We should have a Mario & Luigi stage too.

But where would it be based on? I want something with beans in the background. Something iconic from that game. Maybe it could be based on Beanbean Outskirts but the stage is named "Beanbean Kingdom".

This is Beanbean Outskirts. Notice that there are giant smiling bean pods scattered all over the land. That's what I want to see in the stage.

Nah, the stage would be called just "Mario & Luigi", and go through a few different parts of each game.

as for a rhythm paradise stage id like to see one based on slumber party, imagine fighting on a massive bed

Just for the record, keep in mind that the whole "vanilla Mario only" executive meddling that's been going on lately (which 3D Mario is apparently immune to) has even spread to Smash 4.

Honestly, I need to think about it, it would probably be a remix stage where the background would change to a different game. There wouldn't be a rhythm gimmick where you have to fight to the rhythm because it would slow down the flow of the fight too much. (This was my problem with the Wario Ware stage.)

Takes place in an open field while an active War rages on between Black Hole and Orange Star. Tanks, Mechs, Helicopters as hazards.

Krazy Kremland

Starts off in Hornet Hole as you scroll between Zingers, then changes to riding on the Roller Coaster from Target Terror, before finally moving to Bramble Scramble as you hop from safe spot to safe spot to avoid land on Thorns. Stage then loops.

NES Sports Series

Starts off on a walk-off Tennis field with a net in the middle, then changes between a Baseball field, a Wrestling ring, and a Soccer field.

Excite Race

You scroll along a dirt race track while avoiding many Bikers.

Swimming Beast In The Cavern

You ride atop Dory as she swims round and round the cavern, deep withing the maze.

Donkey Kong Jr.

The first level from the Arcade classic. Various enemies from the game appear and you can climb on ropes.

I have an idea for a Breath of the Wild stage! Hyrule Field could be a side scrolling stage like Mushroomy Kingdom that travels around Hyrule Field. It could also be random every time you play it... just like Mushroomy Kingdom in Brawl (World 1-1 and World 1-2). There are five different Hyrule Fields, each with different landmarks and stage layouts. But they all have one thing in common: the stage boss known as the Guardian. This is why the stage is side scrolling... to convey the feeling that the Guardian is chasing the fighters around Hyrule Field.

  • Hyrule Garrison Ruins
Hyrule Field - East
  • Bottomless Swamp
  • Ranch Ruins

personally i dont think we should have stage bosses, the bosses themselves are a good idea it just feels like they get in the way of the fighting

That's the point of stage bosses. They get in the way... so you beat them up to get them to stop getting in the way for a while.

Unlike stage hazards where you cannot beat them up to make them stop getting in the way. :p

yeah but the time between beating the boss and it showing up again is never that long


i think ridley is the most guilty of this bothersome little annoyance

And on Pyrosphere it turns into "who can beat Ridley first" instead of just attacking each other. Same with Yellow Devil.
They should really remain in the background as annoying but predictable hazards. Gaur Plain's Metal Face isn't too bad but he is very large.

I think Sakurai made Ridley stick around for so long is because he figured his supporters want to see him as long as possible. :laugh:

But seriously, I think Hyrule Field could be a good stage to represent Breath of the Wild. We spend most of our time wandering all over Hyrule Field... so I figured that Hyrule Field as a side scrolling stage would convey that feeling of wandering all over Hyrule Field... and having a Guardian chasing the fighters whether it's on the stage or in the background would convey that feeling of being chased by a Guardian.

i assume you mean hyrule its self rather than just the area called hyrule field

i seem to recall a few people wanted a bowsers castle stage perhaps it should be a mario kart stage that punching bowser statue from mario kart 8 would be quite the stage hazard
Heck, I wanted a Bowser's Castle stage so bad I created one for Brawl.

I think stages are often overlooked by fans. I mean, I usually only really play with my brother. After we pick our mains, most of our games tend to be similar: we played tons of Falco vs. Luigi on FD in Melee and Diddy vs. Luigi on Smashville/FD in Brawl. Being able to switch stages keeps the game enjoyable. Smash 4 took a step in the right direction with Omega stages, though being able to play on different lay-outs is still missing. Between all the shapeshifting or scrolling (which usually have at least one lay-out which isn't fun to me - Interior of Castle Siege, for example) or too large stages I'd just like a handful of new stages with a sinple lay-out, based on recognizable locations.

Also, my biggest wish: an actual home stage for each character. No sharing, a stage for everyone.

Airships (Super Mario Bros. 3)

This would be a scrolling stage, with the classic airships flying to the left of the screen. Most of the airships would be pretty clear, but occasionally you might have to avoid the jet engines that could roast you.

Empire Porky Building (Mother 3)

This stage would be a main platform that acts akin to an elevator moving between the different floors of the Empire Porky Building. Some of the floors can bring dangers, though, such as rushing water in the restroom floor or the Ultimate Chimera in the hidden lab.

Urban Champion

This stage comes straight from the NES classic. The store fronts can serve as platforms, the manholes are an open risk, and folks from the second floor might stick out from their windows to drop down a flower pot. Just be careful of any passing cop cars.

No... I meant the area called Hyrule Field. I even listed the locations in one of my previous posts.
i got that, its just you said you spent most of your time in hyrule field which struck me as odd as its the one area i thought you were collectively referring to most of hyrule as hyrule field

Oh okay. Yeah, we spent most of our time wandering all over Hyrule. But for years, people requested for a Hyrule Field stage... but Hyrule Field seems bland in most Zelda games. Breath of the Wild is probably the first time Hyrule Field seems exciting. So... I thought it would be nice to finally get a Hyrule Field stage and it's based on Breath of the Wild, or more specifically the Central Tower region.

We all know that the BotW stage is going to be just the Great Plateau. The occasional Guardian appearing in the background and taking aim at players. Hide behind a wall to avoid this.

Also, Sakurai lied about stage bosses in the first Smash Direct. He made them out to be a much bigger deal than they really were in the end. There were only a few of them. They do appear in Smash Tour at times, but that's as far as their "uber-special importance" in the game goes.
