With the to announce of the soccer ball item, i got the idear of a new STADIUM Mode, the Wall-Kick.

The Idear behind this mode is to combo the ball as long as possible with bounce it against a wall. Its simply like squash. The highscore could be the number of bounces against the wall.

Also it would be a great 2-Player Coop or VS-mode. After each bounce the color of the ball changes and the player with this color have to get the ball. in Vs-Mode miss the ball means a point to your opponent and in Coop the score is the number of bounces from both players.

When there is a reference to baseball, why not soccer =)

An entire mode dedicated to one item?

I could see it happen... but its called wall-kick. Not all characters can wall kick.

Hmm. If we assume that the soccer ball will work like that (Which I think it will), then why not have a full-blown soccer minimode? You and your enemy fight to push the ball further into the enemy's territory, until you finally reach the goal. It could be one-on-one, or maybe even with a team fleshed out by subspace enemies. And yes, I know this would all be in two dimensions. Think Pong, but with better special effects, cooler paddles, more space and a smaller scoring area.

But your idea is cool too, and sounds a lot less convoluted than mine.

I would play that some. It sounds like the rest of the stadium games we've seen: fun for a few minutes unless you want to make a record or win trophies. This game seems kinda easy, though. Unless something makes it harder, anyone could get a pattern going and go on indefinitely. Maybe the ball could get damaged and start flying further as the game goes on? Maybe there can be more balls introduced at some point? Maybe other hazards get in the way? Maybe the place where you have to bounce it off of moves/shrinks? Maybe you have only a limited time to bounce it every time?

Whatever the case may be, this is an excellent idea, but it needs something to make it a full stadium game. And while we're creating this, we might as well think of a whole set of Brawl sports.

Meh, I would rather not. Sure, Brawl minigames would be fun, but they really aren't necessary.
If anything, I can see a trophy or sticker being awarded for keeping the ball up in the air in any of the multiplayer modes.

maybe it could be like pinball? have an intricate "story" about what was going on. Like how pinball machines are themed, it could have various random things happen to make it more interesting. say you are bouncing it and at some point a mushroom falls and you shrink? or maybe a big mushroom? lots of fun stuff could happen with this.

I recall there being a volleyball mode in melee. It was called "Sheik vs Jigglypuff"

Considering Smash is played with 2D movement, I'm not sure this could work that well and still provide much of a challenge. I could easily be wrong on that, but it's just how it seems when I imagine it. Maybe I'm comparing it to the Wii Sports Tennis training mode too much (it was a similar idea, only with rackets and tennis balls obviously, and in 3D with the wall facing the screen, so the ball could go in many more directions).

When I read the title of this topic I was expecting an idea for a mode where you have to try to get your character through a level using wall-jumps.

I could imagine this something like this:

You start the game and choose Stadium. You are giving options for modes such as Homerun Contest, Target Test, Race To the Finish, and Board the Platforms. At the bottom you see another choice: Mini Stadium. You choose this and look at your few choices: Hit the Guy, Kick the Ball, and Jump Really High!

Also...it seems so funny that this:urg:is EXACTLY what electrode looks like

just like Home Run Contest. Dedicated to the All-mighty Homerun Bat. Gotta add the soccerball, Right?

I cant wait to hit it with Peaches Golf Club. that'd make a great shot XD

Wall-Kick has the potential to become a internet phenomenon. We should candle in our arms, and watch it grow slowly into the king of the interwebz. It would make us all proud parents.

Perhaps there's a new type of play. Kind've like Stadium only instead.. COLISEUM. Smash Bros first 3D planes and split screen modes. Soccer, Football, Dodgeball, Kart Racing.

Now not only must Nintendo's stars duke it out on the battlefield, they must square off on the field or racetrack.

Yeah, I know there's about a 107% chance this won't be happening.
