I was wondering since I'm gonna get my wii fixed from a full brick, does melee lag in 480p on a LCD with component cables. I heard component cables eliminates the lag, and I wanna know if its true. I really wanna get rid of this kinda big TV sitting in my room. Also, is there any 3rd party component cables as good as Nintendo's cables. $30 is kinda expensive for cables. I need some cables that would give me the same quality as Nintendo's.

a few lcds have little to no post processing but those are rare (and even then they still lag more then a crt) so im just gonna say yes

I run Melee in 480p and there is some lag. I've gotten used to it so I don't notice, and the lag isn't TERRIBLE, but it's there. The component cables do help, though.

I forget what brand of component cables I use and how much I paid, sorry- I'm home and my wii is still at college.

Forgot to mention I saw some brawlers playing on a LCD in some big tournament. Anyways I guess I'm sticking with my old tv. Until some new LCD comes out with 0% post processing or just get use to the LCD. I'm pretty sure there gonna be some point in a bug tournament that Imma have play on a LCD. Any ways thanks guys :)

There won't be a melee tournament with laggy tv's korrupshen. We'll use normal tv's for the rest of smash.

To answer your question though, if you get an lcd, it will lag.

I've played melee on my HD and it only lags a few frames.
But that is enough to throw off your wavedash/landing times, and kill your l-cancels. And once you adjust, CRTs will be really weird for you.
DON'T. DO IT.

never pay more for premium brand cables, the difference is minimal and the money always better spent elsewhere

Get a commercial display to replace your LCD =D

No lag.

Sad wallet though.
LOL it would be cool if I could play Melee on a theater sized screen with no lag. To bad that will be obliterating my wallet and setting my pants on fire. Hopefully in the future they'll make better LCDs.

The only reason I wanted the Nintendo ones was because nobody knows the system better than they do, and I heard that there's wierd lines on the 3rd party component cables. I guess gotta read some reviews before buying them I guess :/

^ sorry, response time does not have to do with anything with lag, thats just how fast your tv changes color, makes a clearer picture and what not.

what causes lag is what somebody stated before, its called post processing, check out avsforums if you want to learn it in depth, heck even the srk tech talk forums have decent info on it.
